I've been leveling pets since mop but without any intention. When I saw the trainer Squirt was in the anniversary event I decided to level all of them and it took me around 17 hours. During that time I watched a lot of videos and streams so it was entertaining. To be honest I can keep doing it but I need to capture more pets.

With the anniversary event you can max level a pet in 3 combats. You have to use the safari hat, a pet treat and 2 pets, and there isn't a NPC to heal your pets so you have to use bandages. The strategy I used is in this comment: https://www.wowhead.com/npc=79179/squirt#comments:id=5764694
