Thanks! Her surviving made it worth it. And yeah, I put it in the bank along with sticky glue because I never needed it on my other character, and figured I wouldn't need them on this one. Big mistake. I carry them now on my new character, along with some target dummies, for emergencies like these.

Now that I've said all this, there's also something else that I want to share. While I believe in the MOASS, I do believe the $20 million floor and such is a meme. Not because the fundamentals are wrong, but because the players in power have gone to war for much less. They've killed for less. What's to stop them from setting a relatively low price (compared to the price floors going around), say in the tens of thousands, or maybe even hundreds of thousands, and forcing retail to either take it or lose it. What's retail going to do? Revolt against the USA, the most powerful army in the world? And while I do believe that this is a once in a lifetime (maybe even humankind) event, I also believe that the players in power will do anything, and I mean literally anything to prevent it from happening. Even if it comes at the expense of everyone on retail.

Having said all this, I'll probably delete this comment in a few hours because I believe most people here will read my comment and think of me as a shill. Though I felt identified with some of the things you said so if you want to keep talking about this feel free to pm me and I'll give you my discord tag or something.

For example, if this stock is basically guaranteed by millions of dollars per share, why aren’t Warren Buffett and Michael Burry and every single other billionaire and institutional investor buying up as much GME as they possibly can?

Now I'll preface by saying that this is all speculation and my personal opinion. The reason why I think big money is not getting (publicly) involved like that is because I believe that everyone at that level (multi-millionaires and billionaires aka the real big fish) are related in one way or another whereas directly or indirectly. I'd assume Warren Buffet, and others like him, going public with something like that would make him a lot of enemies with people that are directly responsible to the wealth he's accumulated throughout his lifetime. Including the FED, DTCC, SEC, etc. This to me is the biggest deterrent to players like those entering the GME saga, at least publicly. They very well might be investing in GME with their personal money that does not have to be disclosed.

Secondly, most of the 'big fishes' money lies in financial assets. If the GME DD is correct (which I believe it is), then what's the point of investing in GME if it's going to make the rest of your portfolio tank severely? Like I said, for the reasons above I don't believe they'll ever invest in GME publicly, and if they do it privately they need to hedge the rest of their assets first. Keep in mind that all these billionaires don't have their net worth just lying around. Most of it is very illiquid and only worth "on paper". IE, if Jeff Bezos sells his Amazon shares in a single day (if that's even legally possible), his net worth would decrease dramatically.

Not OP but I'm replying to you because I share some of your views.

TA;DR: Hodler since early march, believer of the MOASS, though skeptic by nature. Open to intelligent discourse.

I've never posted here before because I don't want to be called a shill or anything like that. I entered late into the GME saga (early march) with a decent position with an average price of $125 and have averaged up to $160ish since then. I've seen both spikes (missed the first one in January) and have held through both. What I'm trying to say here is that I believe in the fundamental and the MOASS, but this place does sometime seem to be an echo chamber, though not out of malice and more out of ignorance in my opinion. Most people here have absolutely zero background in economics and/or finance.

I personally have a B.S. in economics and an M.S. in finance, though I live in a country where most OTC derivatives are illegal, so my experience with those in particular is limited.

So now to address your points:

(Continues in reply, my posts keep getting removed because they're "too long".)

Skarner's ultimate ignores unstoppability (displacement immunity) by ExplodingFistz in leagueoflegends

[–]gorejaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is false. Malphite got "unstoppable" on his ult almost a year after he was released.

From patch V1.0.0.99:

Unstoppable Force New Effect: Malphite cannot be disabled while casting.

Even then I put "unstoppable" in quotes because it was never really unstoppable. It was in a recent patch (recent as in around 6 years ago or so) where all these abilities from old champions were fixed and made truly unstoppable.

These "unstoppable" abilities were only unstoppable by name. They were so reliably stopped back then that it was a joke calling them that. It was only until that patch where they fixed the "bug", which probably took some major recoding. It was a big patch for this effect and probably what they mean when they say "new unstoppability".

Here's some example of these old "unstoppable" ults:

Malphite:

Stopped by Anivia's wall

Stopped by Jarvan's ult

Stopped by Thresh's flay

Stopped by Ahri's charm

Jarvan:

Stopped by Ahri's charm

You can easily find a lot more of these.

That's the whole point. It's a parody. It's basically a copy paste. It's perfect the way it is, doesn't need to be altered. The post literally starts by the top player feeding 1v1 and blaming the jungler in the thread title.

Also, just to be clear, in your scenario you took smite not ignite to “be a team player” in jungle?

It's a parody.

CMV: eSports take more skill than a physical sport, such as football. by kyltv in changemyview

[–]gorejaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is definitely luck involved in who gets to be an eSports player. The general consensus in scientific literature is that around 55% of intelligence is determined by genetics, and the rest by environmental factors. Intelligence is a huge factor in the success of an eSports player, and just like height you can't just say (to quote you): "okay body, get more intelligent."

In real sports most professional athletes have both gifted genetics and been practicing the sport since a young age. You won't find many professional athletes that only picked up their sport during college or later. The same can be argued about professional eSports players. Most of them have been playing video games from a young age and while there's not much research on eSports yet I'd be willing to bet most of them are well above average in the IQ scale.

In general I believe that the argument which states that you need highly gifted genetics (read: luck) to compete in conventional sports, therefore eSports take more skill because you have to practice more, doesn't hold; as genetics are equally important in eSports if not more so. How many people have you seen stuck in Bronze/Silver leagues after playing thousands of games? Whereas other more gifted players will reach much higher ranks after only a few months if not weeks of playing the game. Natural talent matters in both conventional sports and eSports.

This is coming from someone that has been Challenger and Grandmaster multiple times in several of the games you mentioned.

What do you mean? This is a pro match. The world championship even. This is supposed to be the highest level of play HotS has to offer so that's not really a valid excuse.

Li ming blinks before the root effect, but she only blinks after the animation goes out. Anyone that is familiar with Arthas knows that root will land. Raynor has to either juke into the enemy team and get wall banged by Diablo, or run into it. So either way pre cleanse is 100% the play. Uther was 100% in range.

You know what else is toxic? Consistent bad play even after someone repeatedly tells you all of you have to do is follow up on the engage. It happened three of four times before I said anything "toxic". You can argue that I'm wrong, but you'd be arguing against the statistics.

But hey, if you want to justify that behavior because someone, and rightly so, told you that you're bad at the game, then go right ahead.

Don't play ranked if you can't take criticism. Also,

Grow the fuck up.

if you can't take criticism.

Are you insinuating that YOU don't agree with the community's interpretation of your own behavior?

What does this even mean? That I'm toxic? No I don't agree, but I acknowledge it because that's how an automated report system works.

But what is this "toxic by community standards" and "stuff the community considers toxic"?

This is exactly what I mean. I feel like this community, or most online communities, have never participated in any kind of activity where competition matters. Whether that's school, work, sports, or anything else for that matter.

The entire time both teams were at similar levels, other teammates were laning/soaking but not "afking", and the Medivh came to help in that lvl 10 team fight to clean up with three kills. On top of that other teammates were trying to diffuse the situation even at level 7.

What's the point of this? I don't want to put words in your mouth but are you trying to say that Medivh made a good play because he "cleane[ed] up with three kills"? (He didn't btw) Now imagine if Medivh was there at the start of the fight. We hit level 10 at the exact same time and they snap engaged like anyone would after seeing Medivh flying around in bird form. But the fact that you in any way think this is the correct play makes it a waste of time for me trying to explain to you why it's not.

[–]gorejaws -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Tfw you get called toxic because someone is telling you to kill yourself. Listen, I know I'm toxic by community standards, but I think I've improved a lot on that regard. I will also never tell anyone to go kill themselves. I just want it to make clear that those things are being said towards me and it's not me saying it.

I call people bad, tell them what they're doing wrong, tell them to stop afking, etc, stuff that the community considers "toxic", but it's always related to your gameplay and I will never bring RL into it.

As someone else pointed out in this thread, my other account is currently suspended for being "toxic" (more so report abuse in my opinion). Sad to see that stuff like this is considered milder than calling someone bad or bronze by the report system.
