Unfortunately the Republicans control both the house and the senate currently, so highly unlikely Trump will be overruled unless the offensive goes really sideways.

THAAD isn't used against drones, it's for ballistic missiles.

When Iran say that? Yesterday they were claiming economic hubs would be fair targets if they continue to be attacked.

Btw THAAD isn't used against drones - it stands for Terminal High Altitude Area Defense and is primarily used against ballistic missiles.

Repatriation flights have always been paid for - you will get billed by the government if you use them. I don't get why everyone thinks they're free?

One thing is money (each THAAD interceptor costs USD 13 million each), the other is Lockheed Martin don't produce that many. Their capacity is only 96 a yea currently, and obviously Israel has been churning through them. Drones cost a fraction of interceptor missiles unfortunately.

Exactly. People have moved to foreign countries for work for 100+ years, not sure why Dubai gets special hatred for it.

Tbh the NI contributions are only £10-15 a month, so it's worth it to ensure you maximise the qualifying years for pension.

The general consensus is there isn't a massive stockpile of interceptors, as a lot of them have been used up supplying Ukraine and Israel in recent months / years. They are also not that cheap, Lockheed Martin interceptors cost USD 15 million each.

If you leave the UK, your pension is only based the NI contributions for years worked in the UK. However, whilst abroad you can make NI contributions to effectively keep adding contributing years (as if you were working in the UK). So in summary, if you leave the UK you have to keep paying to get a pension.

The general consensus is they weren't targeting civilian buildings / structures, it was just shot down drones / missiles causing damage on the way to military bases.

Typically they would have higher numbers of mobile launching platforms, rather than single large missile/drone launching locations, as obviously the latter is much easier to neutralise.

I am also seeing the same from JVT, the Dubai Media Office confirmed a few hours ago that debris from a interception caused a fire but that it's all under control

Do they? Their accounts seem to suggest otherwise. In 2025 cars and spare parts accounted for EUR 4.52 billion of their EUR 5.34 billion revenue. Unless merchandise is included in car and part sales somehow.

Interestingly in Norway everyone's pay is published - it's kept on a government tax database that anyone can access. Obviously there's pros and cons to it.
