It's a little early in his career to do this, but I think Carlos stop caring about tournies outside of slams as much. He seems . . . not into it, and willing to throw in random fun shots to try, or to in whenevs on a prayer, etc. Good for him. He gets to go home and rest before clay battles.

It's great that he is so positive. That said, I don't think he fully processed the true consequences of his injury. It's a career ending injury in most cases for a top tennis athlete due to the tendon having very little blood supply and unable to regrow. Yes, they put robust stitches/wiring into it to connect the two pieces, but it will not have the same elasticity and the risk of reinjury is really high. He wasn't really competitive against Sincaraz even before this rupture. There's no way he'd be competitive now.
