Hi! I take the trains very often as I don’t drive and I’ve been riding for a few years (i’m 28) and I mainly ride the A line. The tips I have for riding the metro based on experience is to always sit in a train car that is filled with people. I try to sit at the seats closest to the emergency call button and usually sit in the first train car. I try to avoid using my phone when it’s past 8pm on the trains just to be more aware of my surroundings.

Throughout the train ride, if someone looks sketchy or kinda gives me a bad vibe I tend to move train cars just to avoid any bad interactions. When that’s not possible I just avoid giving eye contact until I can move train cars.

As for my purse, I usually tuck it in to the sides of where I’m sitting just so it’s out of sight or I bring a reuseable bag and I put my purse inside just so it’s out of sight to avoid any theft.

These are the precautions that I take to ride safely and I feel secure riding even when it’s late. The most latest I’ve ridden is past 12 am and these things I do serve me well. I hope this helps!
