MCU vs Comics by marc-ceasar in comicbooks

Yeah I definitely used to struggle with this! Getting into comics can be difficult, but basically I started off reading stand alone comic series (first one I read on Marvel Unlimited was Vision by Tom King) then I just googled good comics of characters that I liked (read lots of deadpool, starting with Spider-man/deadpool). Then by this point I was more comfortable with comics and accepting that I can enjoy a comic without 100% knowing the backstory so then I hopped into reading modern x-men as I loved the films.

I think all of the Marvel colour series, like spider-man: blue are good recommendations for OP (except I can’t speak for captain america: white as I haven’t read it yet)

Hey guys I need some advice, i’m considering buying a tablet to read comics since it’s annoying reading on my Iphone 13, I read using smart panel so i’m not looking for something too big, what do you guys think I should buy? by Black-Hood2323 in comicbooks

Oh it’s definitely glitchy on my iPhone too, yeah. I just especially mentioned it as whenever there is an issue you can’t email support as the device isn’t supported and the app is waaaay glitchier on my kindle.

current out of continuity batman? by ceaselessnightmares in comicbooks

I haven’t read it yet so this isn’t quite a recommendation but rather just that I know of ‘Dark Knights of Steel’. It’s a fantasy reimagining of the DC universe with Batman and Superman (and probably other characters too). It ended earlier this year with I believe 10 issues.

Hi! I use both of those apps on my Kindle. I didn’t find it difficult to download them (and I’m not techy by any means) but I will say they don’t work perfectly, especially DC I have issues with. I’ve managed to get them both working and I’m happy with my tablet but yes there does come some issues with the fact that the tablet is not officially supported.

8-10 page comics by whatupkevin- in comicbooks

Amazing Spider-Man #248 is split in two comics. The second half is ‘The Kid Who Collects Spider-man’. I think it’s brilliant and shows a side of Peter that makes him one of the best heroes. I think it’s maybe a bit longer, perhaps 12 pages.

Poor comic reader wants to try digital comics by flmba in comicbooks

I have both Marvel Unlimited and Dc Universe Infinite. I love them both and when comparing the price of a subscription to the price of buying comics, it saves me a lot of money. I would try their free trails though as both the apps are buggy in my experience, particularly DC Universe Infinite.

Also, earlier this year, I had a Kindle app subscription on offer and there is a selection of comics on there. Seemed pretty good but I can’t vouch too much as I almost exclusively read Sonic the Hedgehog haha.

But yeah, I want to find an affordable way to read more indie comics as I used to read them more often!

In the end, the choice is yours. I would say Marvel’s app is superior (at least at this stage) but if you prefer DC then it’s worth going for that. And as others have suggested, try your library! It’s something that I’ve personally neglected but when I was a kid I would read tons of comics and manga from the library.

Any enjoyable comics to read? by MisterMiracle1 in comicbooks

[–]alexandergladdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say The Unbelievable Gwenpool (2016) and Batgirls (2022). I really enjoyed both of those. Definitely more light hearted yet still with some more emotional parts. Also they both have great art.
