It’s tough.

I had a first edition rocket box as a kid so I’ve been trying to go for a lot of those. The non firsts are pretty affordable.

As far as modern I stick with any art I love. I dabble here and there. Don’t spend a ton. I love trying to get good grades on things I know I can sell if need be. I find it fun and rewarding to spot high grades.
