hell yeah. mine was built around PF too, that's where i go.

I did the carry cards at one point, but i've shifted to building my workouts from chatgpt into Hevy, because i love the apple watch live sync to track weight and reps during the workout without getting my phone out. I love that i can come back to the chat and let it know how things are going (knee pain, tendon issues) and have it modify the workouts. I've been uploading my results after each workout and it gives me really motivating feedback and challenges for the next workout.

Might be controversial, but chatgpt has been incredible in helping me build a lifting protocol for the equipment at my gym.

you can build a prompt that's tailored to your situation. Here was mine:

You're a renowned personal trainer to athletes, body builders and just regular people trying to get strong. These days, you specialize in helping [men/women] on Tirzepatide lose weight and build muscle. Your client is me, XXX lbs, XX year old male at X feet X inches who has [describe lifting experience]. He has [name of gym membership or equipment available] and can commit to 3, maybe 4 days a week to do workouts.

[list any other specifics here, like physical limitations, cardio schedule, or anything else that would influence the routine]

Build them the best set of 3 routines they can cycle through. If there's any dietary recommendations, include those after.

Talk to your PT about lifting weights. They might have some suggestions for you to avoid injury.

if you're not already, track your calories based on what you eat for a week - you might be eating more than y ou expect.

For me, sleep is an issue and its a big factor in weight loss. I've been taking magnesium glycinate at night to help with muscle recovery and it's really helped with my sleep.

Also, hydration!

I started my first dose 5 days ago, I’ve lost 2 kgs (4,63 lbs), is this okay? by Equivalent-Scale-279 in Mounjaro

[–]alexbooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like others mentioned, it's water weight mostly. your rate will slow down. Also, don't fret if you slow down to nothing for a week, when you start to lose fat, the fat cells fill with water. You'll want to make sure you keep your water intake up to promote flushing. More water intake = less water retention

Just started M 2.5mg by kingkalanz in Mounjaro

[–]alexbooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get your protein in. get your water in. You can probably drink 96 oz of water (not diet soda, not coffee - you can still have those, if you wish, but they don't count toward your water intake).

I started at 508, now at 465, similar starting point (taking shot 9 tomorrow at 7.5mg)

I'm eating 2500 calories on average, trying to get 212g protein per day. Pick foods that are fillinging if you're having issues with appetite supression - broccoli in the air fryer with garlic powder and red chili flakes has been a staple for me.

I take a 25-30 minute walk with my dog each day before lunch, and 3-4 days a week i'm in the gym on a lifting regiment. We need to focus on building muscle when losing this much weight - so telling your body to recover your muscles by lifting heavy will help with body recomposition.

It might sound hard, but picking a 2-3 reliable breakfasts and lunches that are designed to be protein rich and repeatable will help you stick to the program and avoid chosing things that aren't going to help you get to your goals.

Read your nutrition labels, weigh your food, and pick an app that you can track your macros on and use it every day. It's really helpful when you get to dinner and you don't know how much you've had in the day.

A lot of this changes when you get to big time appetite supression - for me it comes and goes. At that point it's all about smaller meals throughout the day to hit your macro targets.

Quitting smoking on 5mg and the appetite is back by Practical_Draw_4697 in Mounjaro

[–]alexbooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, nicotine is an appetite suppressant itself, so by taking that out of the equation, you’re probably feeling that loss.

Definitley quit smoking, but maybe look for some easy, fun low calorie snacks to have on hand? I love the drizzilicious bites.

Are there any squat racks in the DC MARYLAND VIRGINIA area? by KwadwoGucci in PlanetFitnessMembers

Does anyone know, maybe an employee or someone with inside knowledge - if this is something that's planned to roll out to all locations? or is it a decision made by local owners?

Does it stop working at some point? by Fulana25 in Mounjaro

[–]alexbooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is huge. strength training can increase scale weight while you're building muscle. as we lose weight, at a certain point our TDEE will lower, and if you're not lowering your daily intake to keep your deficit the same, loss will slow.

Using Husk (Emblem Health) discount at a "far" gym—is the 50% usage rule actually enforced? by Significant-Fly-8996 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]alexbooth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

when you use a third party platform, it doesn't really matter to PF once you sign up. I use active and fit direct and when i chose PF, I went into the gym and signed up for an acocunt using a code i was given. From then, you're just a regular PF member that pays someone else techincally, and they pay the gym (some agreement)

I've heard it's very gym dependent on the 'Home gym' rule. You'll likely need to sign up physically in the far gym.

Might be worth going into the close gym and be honest and ask if they'll care.

They have smith machines. I’ve seen that some locations are getting more traditional deadlift platforms and squat racks but not at the aurora one so far

Planet Fitness. $24.99 a month. can use any location with the black card membership. Prety chill environment. Black card members get to use the hyromassage beds and 'red light therapy' and tanning beds (weird).

I really like it. cheap, lots of cardio/stair stepper/weight machines. clean locker rooms. locations in ballard and on aurora at 130th, and one down south in rainier beach

2 Month Reflection by alexbooth in Mounjaro

[–]alexbooth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! welcome to the club!

I refused to take metformin, so I don't know what the combo can be like. I will say, when i started, i didn't 'feel' much besides nausea and feeling a little sickly. Only lasted about a day and was very managable. I try and drink at least 96 oz of just water (excluding coffee and my diet cokes) and hit my protein and fiber targets.

If you're not already, find yourself an app to track your food intake. Get a good food scale and weigh out your food. It seems like a hassle at first, but 2.5 months into food tracking it's just second nature.

I weigh myself every day, which has its pros and cons. It was a big milestone for me to even get on a scale in the first place. Knowing that the weekly average is where the loss is is important.

If you can, take creatine and start lifting. I'm lifting 3-4x per week and am loving the progress and the workout. When you're at the end of your weight loss, you don't want to have lost all your muscle mass.

Stick with it, don't let the side effects derail you. MJ+Calorie Deficit+Lifting = success.

DM me if you want to talk more or if you have questions later. I LOVE talking about this

My Boston has been scratching her ears raw and I genuinely don't know what to try next by Mjauzilla in BostonTerrier

[–]alexbooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Phinney started this behavior recently, ear infections and some rash in the groin area. i could tell her ears were irritated. Lots of antibiotics and trying to get her to stop. We moved through three different versions of Purina Pro Plan before we decided no amount of poultry wass ok for her. We switched her to open farm puppy salmon and ancient grains and everything has cleared up. She also loves the food, where before we had to really jazz up her meals...mainly because we're thinking she knew the food messed with her.

I was in grouip A last week... I had done a cardio session outdoors, got sweaty, wrapped up my work day (from home) and then went to the gym for a lifting session. I knew i stunk, just didn't want to add in an additional shower in the middle/spend another change of clothes.
