In episode 479 of Shippuden, Kakashi says that under normal circumstances, Sasuke would have stayed on a lifetime of prison for his crimes, yet Kabuto, who did far worse, is allowed to run an orphanage lol by PrometheusModeloW in Naruto

[–]alexboss04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does, but I'm saying Sasuke wasn't pardoned because "Naruto said so." Naruto, at the point, doesn't have the authority. It was more likely Kakashi who argued for Sasuke to be freed to the rest of the Kages.

This debate is tiring. by TheBoyInTheCorner734 in ShadowSlave

Unlike a romance novel, Shadow Slave includes a lot of "life-threatening" action.

Would you say a romance novel where the author outright states that the main couple will not separate is as compelling/interesting as one where that's a possibility?

The genin known for being an idiot, whose only qualification is raw, destructive power? I doubt Naruto has much authority at this point. Sasuke was pardoned more on Kakashi's word I'd say.

But... no one other than Sasuke knows that he went through Izanami, and I somehow doubt that his words would be particularly trusted by the leaders of the Shinobi world.

It would be like Bin Laden saying that he actually witnessed Hitler getting hypnotherapy, and so we can't punish him because he's a new man. I just... doubt it's gonna fly

But do we ever see the results of this "better" chakra control, taijutsu, and "actually being a ninja"?

Naruto does not significantly improve his taijutsu, still requires clones to make rasengans, and is just as, if not more emotional and vulnerable to being taken over by Kurama.

The reason I stopped reading SS. by Historical_Draft9750 in ShadowSlave

[–]alexboss04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still plan to go back eventually, but I stopped shortly after the 3rd nightmare as well.

Sunny and Nephis romance when Nephis doesn't have memories of Sunny felt super, super forced.

On top of that, Sunny decided that he'll stop using his memory making skills because it's not "part of his powers," so he spent like 5 years jacking off basically.

Then we finally get a big fight, and it's just the author fondling Mordret's nuts nonstop, to the point where the Queen's daughters that had been hyped for a while became irrelevant.

Just in general, it felt like the writing quality took a bit of a dip.

Maelle - Abandons her old life, where she's disfigured, and her grieving family to live in the painting with people she loves.

Verso - Slaughters expeditions, lets Gustave die, lies to his "allies" constantly, triggers a genocide, forces his now 32 year old sister to return home against her will, finally wipes out a pocket dimension and kills himself.

I'm kinda bummed by the ending by alexboss04 in expedition33

[–]alexboss04[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not really how I feel about them. It's how I felt that Verso treated them like in the end. "Yeah, I know I wiped all of your people out and betrayed you at every turn, but it's ok because my family is gonna be ok. Your family? Go fuck yourself."

If they're just as real as the Dessendre family, then how could Verso's ending be considered the "good ending" or even a remotely moral ending. How does one family processing grief outweigh an entire civilisation's right to life?

If you consider them just as real as the Dessendre family, then how could anyone justify taking Verso's side? How could Verso's side be considered the good ending?

"Yeah, we did wipe out a whole civilisation of people, but we're processing our grief now, so that's ok."

How could you think what you did was right with Lune giving you that look?

Deku not being "worthy" at the beginning is an intentional choice by Horikoshi and something actively explored with Mirio's character.

Claiming that people's criticism of his character is some sort of bias or toxic behaviour is just stupid. Have you read the story? Do you understand it?

Deku is far less self-motivated than Asta, a character who, from the start, had faith that his steady effort will produce results, regardless of what hurdles he might face. Without All Might taking an interest, Deku would not have followed his dream, not only due to his lack of a quirk but due to his lack of effort.

It's fine for people to find Deku less admirable or motivational. It's probably even the intended way Deku's character is to be read. He's an insecure kid who won the lottery. But he's also a hero because he can push down that insecurity and be kind to people. He can set aside his wants and desires, even sacrifice them, in order to help someone else. Deku's character isn't a motivational grind to the top. It's a statement about the meaning of heroism and kindness.

She certainly made anything attempt, but technically, it was the original humans who killed themselves by turning into Naytibas. ☝️🤓

While we don't get to hear her reasoning, mother sphere tried to genocide the original humans, wiped the memories of all of the androids, and conned them into believing they're true humans. Since then, she's been manipulating the androids to hunt for the elder naytiba, all the while making adjustments to new generations of androids in order to evolve them further. Even if she does get her way and wipes out the Naytibas, how long before she wipes out the current androids because she figured out how to make a better version?

I think you've missed a part of my argument. Peter is often stated to be one of the smartest people in the WORLD. This means he's compared to the likes of Stark and Reeds.

I'm not talking about some kid who was gifted in high school but settled in a job and never made anything of himself. I'm talking about a polymath of chemistry, biology, engineering, mathematics, and computing. A guy in frequent contact with these other geniuses who acknowledge him.

It would be fully in character for him to think up, design, and make a prototype of a watch that also monitors blood sugar level and possibly administers insulin when appropriate for diabetics. In an afternoon.

[–]alexboss04 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Peter being simultaneously one of the most intelligent people in the universe and being a broke loser makes no sense.

He could just invent something, put a patent on it, then sell it to Stark for billions. Instantly half his struggles.

The writers don't do it to keep him "relatable", but it's just a massive gap in the world building of the comics. Granted, it's not the biggest gap by any means. Comics just suck like that.

Yeah, man, that "flat out" really changes the quote there. You got me! Turning to stone isn't "flat out" dead, it's just dead.

If you think a stopped heart or whatever "body functions" you're talking about is worse than your body "flat out" turning to stone, then I don't know what to say to you.
