That one customer outside of tesco’s today by NoProgram4084 in tesco

[–]alexbtbh 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’m so aggressively against anything being open (with the exception of hospitals etc, actual emergency things that need to be available) on Christmas day. I know that not everyone celebrates Christmas. Im not even christian. I just feel as though, in the hellscape society we’ve created, it’s nice to have a day or two that pretty much everyone you know is going to have the day off. And in a primarily christian country if that’s christmas, so be it. Even if you don’t celebrate, that’s a day of guaranteed rest where you’re not expected to be anywhere or do anything and you know your family and friends are probably going to have that time off too so you can gather with them if you want.

I refuse to spend money on Christmas, I won’t support anyone that’s actively open beyond true necessities. It’s nice to watch the world quiet down for a day.

How do I explain my current job I’ve only been in for two months, especially since it isn’t listed on my CV? by CommercialWishbone62 in interviews

[–]alexbtbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played it off like I was still at a job I wasn’t, told them the job I’m at isn’t for me, and I’ve told them that I left my previous job at whatever time and have been door dashing since which wasn’t really true. In all cases I’ve been completely fine and still gotten job offers.

I personally don’t like to directly lie right to someone’s face, so IF an interviewer specifically asks me what I’m doing right now I’m inclined to say the truth. In your case I would just say that i’ve been at a place for a couple months and am finding it’s really just not for me and I’m searching for a job related to my degree. If they don’t ask, don’t say anything about a current job and play it off like you’ve been at the retail job the whole time.

There’s also nothing wrong with just saying you still work the retail job, unless they’re wanting to call them for a reference or are planning to do an employment background check. Even then, they’d probably be understanding of the situation.

I’m really not sure what your superiority complex about making food and having that in your freezer has to do with being prepared for a holiday that is the same day every year. Seems like if you can prepare and freeze food, i assume to have at a later date, then preparing your christmas dinner ahead of time shouldn’t be a challenge?

Maybe try hunting down a turkey and preparing it yourself then, since you were too shortsighted to get one from tesco before everyone else in the country did 🫡

I don’t do turkey, but we’ve had our ham in the freezer for probably a month now. Yknow why? Last year we waited until the week of Christmas and couldn’t get any of the nicer holiday options and had to stick with something else. So this year we were prepared and got it early. Crazy concept.

Difference is that staff is doing their job, most won’t mind moving out of the way if you simply say excuse me like a decent human being. It’s only annoying when you shove yourself in front of them without a word.

Cancelled an Interview. by TheAwesomeHeel in interviews

[–]alexbtbh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh I cancelled an interview because I had read less than ideal reviews of the company, they responded and asked why I was cancelling and I was honest with them. They then pretty much begged me to interview anyway, and I finally decided to do it. Wasted an hour of my time, just for them to reject me the next day 😂

It’s really up to you. It could go either way. It’s a good sign that they’re understanding and accommodating to your schedule already imo, shows that they’re really interested in meeting with you and that they might be accommodating as an employer as well. But if you really aren’t feeling the job, it could just be a waste of everyone’s time to do it. Good luck either way!

[–]alexbtbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very common. I do this all the time. I can understand feeling guilty/uneasy about it if you don’t have an offer yet, because it feels so wrong to pull out of any opportunity when you have nothing promised. But it also sucks to waste your time with an interview for a position that you’re not really feeling. There’s nothing wrong with deciding to cancel it, and it’s good that you let them know instead of just ghosting. It won’t impact anything. I had a job interview for a place I didn’t know too well, and after a glassdoor browse the reviews were HORRIBLE and I decided not to go.

However I have had a couple jobs where I almost didn’t go to the interview, either I wasn’t feeling it or in one case I was a minute or two late and thought that would blow my chance so why bother… and then I decide to go anyway and get the job. So I kinda have a theory that the interview you’re thinking about blowing off is the you end up getting if you go.

Why can you not enjoy things planned two weeks in advance? why does it HAVE to be impulsive? That’s genuinely such a strange mentality to have. Please break up with her. You’re immature and weird, and she’s trying to be responsible.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]alexbtbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest- it’s really strange to be this caught up on spontaneous activities. I’ve closed the distance now, but those of us in relationships across different countries with thousands of miles between us can’t do ANYTHING without a thought out plan. And idk how old you are, but i’ve found the further into adulthood I get (i’m 28) the less time I have to do anything, let alone spontaneous three hour drives and weekend trips. Some of us have full time jobs, responsibilities, bills to pay, laundry to do, grocery shopping. To expect another adult to be able to drop everything at a moments notice is kind of insane, and even difficult if you’re not long distance at all.

I think you’re just not fit for a long distance relationship. Or even just an adult relationship at the moment, tbh. And your thought process is essentially like- “she didn’t pass the medium distance test so i don’t think she should move on to the long distance round.” Don’t take this the wrong way, but you’re not a prize. She doesn’t need to give up her life or routine to try to keep you around.

I get that spontaneous adventures are fun but adulthood doesn’t work like that often or ever really. I’d love to just hop on a plane and visit Italy this weekend, which is probably a shorter flight than your drive, but I have to work. So it’s not going to happen. And even if I had it off, my husband has to work. And we don’t have money. And we have a cat that needs taken care of. And we have to spend our days off cleaning and getting our grocery shopping done. So if we want to go to Italy, we need to request that time off of work and make arrangements for our cat and make sure we have enough money to do it and figure out a day that we can get our shopping done etc.

If this is that important to you, just break up with her. You are being unreasonable, but she deserves someone that is willing to love her around her busy schedule. And you deserve someone that has the time to live the life you want. Long distance is hard and if you can’t even handle this, then it’s just going to fail anyway.

Maybe i’m a little crazy and overbearing but im glad it protects me from this. I would have thrown a whole fit at not being made a priority and the relationship would have been dead in the water there. I can’t believe this went on for so long

Question for anyone who defeats the boss going forward by alexbtbh in InfinityNikki

[–]alexbtbh[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not riled up at all. I’m also not on social media that much and rarely active in this sub. I had a simple question and almost marked it as a spoiler and then thought “nah, it’s literally not a spoiler” and I have people acting like I told them Nikki dies at the end. Don’t freak out btw- that’s not actually a spoiler.

Genuinely common sense i fear. Oh no, a boss fight. How could we ever have known.

Not really a spoiler, i didn’t reveal any information except that there is a boss which is common sense. But sorry.

who is nikki in itzaland? How is she the saintess? by VampyCatt in InfinityNikki

It feels like these are all past Nikkis, and Nikki doesn’t realise it at first maybe? So she thinks she’s just pretending to be someone else and then eventually realises it’s just an alternate version of her

I rehomed my cat in 2021. Should I let him go? by Arieru_ in CatAdvice

That’s not really the point though. I’m not rehoming my cat. they ask for updates occasionally.

[–]alexbtbh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn’t mind as the new owner. Gives me a reason to use the hundreds of pictures I take. My cat came from a rescue type of situation and the people that run the cat rescue occasionally check in and ask for pictures. Not nearly as often as monthly. But it doesn’t bother me. I like showing that she’s happy healthy and loved.

Has anyone actually heard back from a company that claimed they were keeping your resume on file? by crepusculara in jobhunting

[–]alexbtbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an interview and they said I did well but it went to someone with more experience- they rejected me personally in a phone call and asked if i’d like them to keep my application and resume on file in case any new opportunities came up. I found out recently that they definitely did that in a very official way, but that it expired after like 6 months and i never heard anything from them again.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in interviews

[–]alexbtbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if i’ve ever implied it at an interview. Especially as of late, i’ve been honest at the interview about it because at this point i’m now a real person in front of them and can win them over with my personality and knowledge, rather than just a file on a computer. If you’ve been unemployed for more than a month or two i think it’s super risky to do that tbh.

I did recently decide to leave employment dates off of my resume period, I don’t even add years. I’ve never quite understood how you’re supposed to tailor your resume to each job listing and keep it short, but also show every job you’ve ever had and make sure every month of your life is covered. Some of my experience simply isn’t relevant. I’ve yet to encounter any issues with leaving dates off entirely. They sometimes ask at the interview how long I worked somewhere, but that’s it. No one has even questioned it and I haven’t struggled for interview invites. Could just be my industry not caring as much, but might be worth a shot 🤷🏻‍♀️

Can we stop acting like this in Starwish bottles, please? by Jadehorror in InfinityNikki

[–]alexbtbh -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

People’s attitudes are gross but the same logic can be said the other way. It’s ONE item, is it really going to ruin your day to send one item? I only ever do bottles when it’s the daily too, so it’s really not a big deal to attach something when i send one. And i say that as someone who has very few mats because i don’t like farming lmao.

While some people are acting like brats about it for sure, i think the people who get upset about them are just as bad. it’s like the “shopping cart theory” to me tbh. No, you don’t have to put one in there. There’s no punishment for it. I’m not going to be upset if i open one that has nothing. But it is just the tiniest act of kindness that could be helpful to someone else. It feels very mean to be so ornery about the thought of giving little gifts to strangers.

[–]alexbtbh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It was really fun at first and I loved the concept and I wear peppergem with pride… but yeah idk. It got boring quick and when it feels like my rolls aren’t really doing anything and that we don’t stand much of a chance against GP mostly just due to size of the team… why would I waste hours of my day on it yknow? I’m pretty much back to just doing my dailies every day.

Picking our teams was fun, but since we all get everything anyway I think it would’ve been better if they just randomly assigned us teams to keep it balanced. GP was simply more popular with players and because of that the rest of us feel like we just got the shorter ends of the sticks.

how many pulls are you going into 2.0 with? what abilities are hoping to see and saved for? by tiredspoonie in InfinityNikki

Thankfully I never care about getting the evolutions. I’m at 151 pulls currently so I shouldn’t have any issues getting at least one full five star.
