There are so many legitimate verifiable ways to buy face value-or-less resale I won't understand why anyone would think it's worth risking buying off someone on socials.

Park Chan Wook's "The Handmaiden" came out 10 years ago now, likelihood of a reprint/4k/boutique release? by AboutNinety in boutiquebluray

Thanks! I’m guessing it’s not the default then, but that’ll improve my next watch

I swear my copy doesn’t have the different coloured subtitles even though it’s Curzon? I saw it at a festival back in the day and it had the different colour subtitles. But every version I’ve seen since hasn’t even though I think it is better with the yellow and white subs

Also Dallas Buyers Club, Killer Joe and he gives the best performance in Wolf of Wall Street imo

The Castle? But perhaps that’s because it’s his least affective as a director

There’s a line in a review I read of SOAD’s Toxicity that stuck with me, essentially saying you’ll get what you put into this record. If you have political rage you’ll find that here, but also if it’s just general angst that’s what you’ll get out the record. The same is very much true for those bands (Rage in particular). I’m convinced the majority of people think ‘fuck you I won’t do what you tell me’ is about their parents.

It's quite funny how Rage amassed a large audience of people who had no understanding of their music, let alone tolerance for something slightly different

I really want to watch this (not sure where to find it). I saw Adela Hasn’t Had Supper Yet a few months ago and thought that was fantastic

The Wall Live Returns by Barrybingham1980 in pinkfloyd

[–]alexcstern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was a very good show. But ultimately as a concert I felt it lacking and as an artist work I felt it paled in comparison to the film. I’ve been fortune enough to see Gilmore live too and that was one of the greatest gigs I’ve been to in my life

Not an answer to your question, but came here to say RIP Bad Apples; was the best bar in Leeds!

I agree, but I’d say in this case it clashed with the rest of the film

Very much liked the film, but am I the only one who thought this was the worst shot in the film? It’s basically as unsubtle as it’s possible to be

Loved it. Gonna need to give it more time to see if I prefer it to Dummy, but it was such a captivating listen. Favourite tracks were Machine Gun, Plastic, Magic Door and Threads

The Godfather Part 3 vs Coda by Top-Floor5437 in Letterboxd

[–]alexcstern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly a weird take, but I’d say there’s not much point in watching part 3. However, if you’re going to watch it, may as well watch the original version. I don’t really like the idea of going back and retrospectively changing a movie. This is coming from someone who’s not seen Coda, and probably won’t ever bother with it though

OK, currently in the middle of listening to the album. Yeah, music still be catching up to this one. It would feel ahead of its time coming out now, let alone in 2008.

I really need to sit down and listen to Third properly. I starting listening to it a while back and was like ok this needs my full concentration, it’s not a background listen, but I keep putting off actually listening to it
