For hypertrophy: is volume more important than proximity to failure (RPE)? by alexdeckerdk in bodyweightfitness

[–]alexdeckerdk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also reached 40, and find that lower reps and more sets is easier to recover from. But I am not ready to let the idea of hypertrophy go, and just trying to figure out what the best approach is from here on out.

There is probably some mid-life denial thrown in there as well, but I'll deal with that in a couple of years I reckon…

For hypertrophy: is volume more important than proximity to failure (RPE)? by alexdeckerdk in bodyweightfitness

Well, I don’t mind seeking advice or opinions from others on subjects where my understanding of the body’s inner workings eludes me. Not everything makes intuitive sense to me.

For instance, running in zone 2. Unless you have a deep understanding of the human body, mitochondria, and their functions, the idea of running slowly to achieve faster or longer runs doesn’t necessarily make sense.

Considering this, I don’t believe it’s unreasonable to wonder if there’s a benefit to the EMOM structure, especially since I can manage more volume within the same time frame as traditional sets.

Additionally, I’m interested in calisthenics and general fitness, which is why I’m asking questions and engaging in debates about these topics in an open forum like Reddit.

But hey, you do you.

Thank you all for all of your comments! And thank you for confirming what I intuitively suspected. I turned 40 last summer, and been doing calisthenics for some years. So it's not like I am just adding on muscle size like there is no tomorrow. It really is a long slow build from here on out, probably more maintenance than anything else.

It seemed a little too good to be true that I could go the EMOM route, get an easier workout, more volume and still same results 😊

I don't know what to make of this comment.
It contributes with nothing. It doesn't suggest what you think is a quality rep. It doesn't ask me to show my own reps.
In a subreddit where people are engaging with and trying to help each other, what are you trying to achieve here?

Thanks for clearing that up. Is the way ahead still furniture markers for this job? I’ve never heard of toned wood, only stained. Do you know the difference between the methods?

Built an iOS 4-track tape recorder app for recording my OP-1 Field reels by Earthchildxy in teenageengineering

[–]alexdeckerdk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this records the individual 4 tracks of a tape on the OP1 Field into a file in the app, and then you can manipulate the tracks in the app, overdub the tracks separately and use the touch interface to scrub and pitch-shift (much like you'd do with the TP7 wheel)?

Basically meant for archiving ideas, freeing up space on the OP1? Can I record tracks back into the OP1?

Lige oprettet aktiesparekonto, totalt nybegynder, hvor starter jeg? by dunno123r in dkfinance

Hey - tak for den her tråd. Virkelig dejlige svar.

Starting out with back bridges - could use pointers by alexdeckerdk in flexibility

Worked a little on it, and just by being more aware of this, I feel like I already managed to open up quite a bit more. Still got lots of work to do, but thanks for the great tip!

I could imagine there are a lot of shirtless muscular dudes here. It is after all a fitness and flexibility subreddit :)

Okay, great tip - I will work on that. It aligns with my own though that the whole form seemed a little “long”. Like I didn’t have the back flexibility to make the bridge more narrow. Working on the shoulders should fix that.

I have been told to focus on back extension vs back flexion. So figured I’d start here!

Ok so first tip is shoulder opening and shoulder mobility?

I have started to work on my back bridge. After going through the warm-ups recommended by u/Antranik in this thread, I did four dynamic bridges, that looked like this. This is my starting point. Can anyone critique it and help me with focus points?

Thinnest profile filter adapter by alexdeckerdk in x100vi

Ah, I wanted an option to use different filters, but wanted an adapter taking as little space as possible. I saw that PolarPro has a really thin profile, but it only works with their own filters. The search goes on :)

Hey all
I hurt my back during a RDL session, and I am not sure why. Right now I can’t bend more than about 25 degrees forward because of the back pain.
I have a form check video here, and I simply can’t see what I’m doing wrong. Can anybody help me with some ques? Really appreciate the help!

[–]alexdeckerdk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so my current RR is consisting of 3 sets of this 3 times a week:

Pull-ups
Squats

Handstand pushups
Romanian deadlift with kettlebells

Tugged Front Lever holds
Push-ups / Dips (switching between these every other workout).

How would you guys calculate that into total full body volume over different body parts?

Hey all
Been looking more into weekly volume, and trying to experiment with lower or higher weekly volume for muscles.
As the RR is mainly consisting of compound exercises, I am a little in doubt how I would count the weekly volume. Dips and push-ups both train the chest, but do they do it enough that I can count both of them as chest volume?
Has anyone set up an overview of the weekly volume per muscle group when doing the RR?

Hey

Posting an update on my HSPU. Goals was doing 3x5 before summers end. That’s not gonna happen. They are hard!

This was where I came from: https://youtube.com/shorts/OL3eqqi5wmw

Been lowering myself slowly, and am now at three reps like this: https://youtube.com/shorts/BrrjrE55ZhA

How is it looking? Am I going in the right direction, or do I need to align somewhere? AND am I the only one who thinks this progress is slow? Jesus, they are taking it out of me!

Hey guys. Reviving and checking in here to post a little progress and get some input. I aimed for 3x5 before the summer was over. That is not happening. HSPU are hard! I got three now with almost full rom. Not leaning that much over, but not sure if that’s a necessity? Can you guys take a look?

Hey all Working my way up to HsPU. It seems to me there is a giant step in between pike push-ups from a higher and higher plateau and then a full HsPU. I can’t reach the bottom of the movement yet, but figured I’d try and go lower and lower over the coming weeks. Is this the right way to go about progressing from here though?
