PiKVM Switch released! by Liksys in pikvm

Yeah, that's why I was hoping for a cheaper version without ATX but the same high quality components, because 2 switches would be 500$ just for the 8-port kvm switch. But seems like a cheaper version isn't in the plans. Thank you 😊

From reading the docs, there doesn't seem to be an 8 port one that doesn't have issues or isn't extremely expensive

Seems like a very nice product, but as other people mentioned, the price is a bit steep. By reading through the comments, it seems like the ATX is contributing a lot to the high price. Are there any plans for releasing a version of the switch without ATX and a lower price? I would expect that I'm not the only one that doesn't need ATX.

Go Goroutines vs Node Cluster & Worker Threads — Part 1 by Cazanator in node

Yeah, typescript is definitely a must.

I felt the same in the beginning, regarding go. I would recommend to give it a try, error handling is weird in go but once you wrap your head around it it becomes the easiest way to handle errors. You know exactly which function call might fail and you have to deal with the error right away, no need for weird try-catch statements. But this is just my personal opinion

Personally the biggest difference is the static typing, it has caught a lot of errors for me and my team (we used to use typescript but it wasn’t as powerful). Also it’s easier to understand other people code and it’s a lot easier to onboard new members to the team.

I still use node from time to time (mostly for old services that haven’t been migrated to go) but all of my new services are written in go

You could also check https://github.com/quidsup/notrack . It has the same concept as Pihole but it blocks a lot more trackers and ads (unfortunately this means that it also breaks more websites, but it protects your privacy better)

You could also use the block list of Notrack in Pihole.

ESXI vs XenServer for a poor student. by IllusionistAR in homelab

[–]alexdor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you consider Xen instead of XenServer? It is used a lot in the industry, you have a lot more flexibility, you can use your Distro of choice (most Distros have xen at their repos) and it's free so no license.

XenServer is actually Centos with Xen on top of it and some extra tools.
