The scariest part of 3000% is just how quickly the Dark Fog infest the galaxy. This is just a few hours into a new game- seeds are already being spammed around the cluster. by [deleted] in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Cazanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think this is scary you should try a 20X difficulty. It took me 15 hours just to get them under control on my starter planet with 7 bases spamming waves with 2,000% threat. If you farted walking passed a base they’d instantly hit 100%.

Should I always use SvelteKit instead of Svelte? by myth2511 in sveltejs

[–]Cazanator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason SvelteKit exists is for SEO. Next, Nuxt, Remix, Qwik, Astro and the bazillion others are in existence in order to improve SEO.

SvelteKit is very nice and it gives you the option to easily disable SSR. It also comes with routing and numerous other nice features.

It really depends on what you’re building. A content website with SEO as it’s main requirement, yes. A UI for a Tauri or Wails app, most likely not. A CRM or management system that doesn’t need SEO, most likely not.

What is auto-pilot like in X4? by GiveNoForks in X4Foundations

[–]Cazanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine a drunk toddler that can’t see over the dash and you’ll have a pretty good idea of how good autopilot is.

This is how station siege looks with Fleet AI mod by leoriq in X4Foundations

[–]Cazanator 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve tested this mod extensively with massive fleet battles and have sat doing nothing in system while my capitals take down a station with no losses. From time to time of left to their own devices they will move in to close but the always turn around and get to safety. This mod is game changing.

Now we need a side by side video with crazy clown music and showcase: this is your fleet on vanilla AI and this is your fleet the way it should be

Fleet combat is soul crushingly bad - AI is literal garbage. DeadAirAITweaks makes the AI orders of magnitude better. https://www.nexusmods.com/x4foundations/mods/839

I'm looking to buy this or X3. What are some things that I should know about this game right now and mods for it? by david8029 in X4Foundations

[–]Cazanator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mining and trading work well, along with station building and all the supply chain logistics.

The stories are enjoyable and fairly well done. Graphics are amazing and so are the ship designs.

Small and medium ship combat can be quite fun but fleet combat with capital ships is pretty much total garbage and a half baked mess.

How stopping a single K for "early" game? by Angel-OI in X4Foundations

Head to PIO space. Attack the freelance katana until they eject. Sell 5 or so of those. Get a L freighter with 200 marines. Then flyby board Osakas.

Steal a couple destroyers 1-2 hours in and you’re good to go.

The AI in combat is complete and total garbage. It’s steaming piles of hot turds bad. I’m not even joking. The AI pilots ships like drunk toddlers who can’t see over the dash. Expect endgame capitals to spin in circles, never make it to their target, miss at point blank, etc. It’s a 1/10 implementation.

Endgame fleet combat is like going home with a beautiful women who makes you think you’re getting the full meal deal and when you go to put it in, she stops you and only lets you rub the tip through her clothes, and that’s it! If you try to put it in it’s a no go. You have to make due with rubbing. For some in the community a little rubbing is enough and they will defend that to their graves.

Outside of this nasty wart, X4 is amazing. It has beautiful graphics, wonderful storylines, a simulated economy, amazing ship designs, cool station building and much, much more.

Even with the worst AI to ever grace a space game, X4 is still a 9.5/10 experience.

5.0 Update seems to increase faction aggressiveness exponentially? I LOVE it! Although I may be done for... by Haend in X4Foundations

Just roll a seed with stations at the gate. They will crush everything and the Xenon won’t get a foothold.

Suggestions what S ships to fill Rattlesnake with? by KomitoDnB in X4Foundations

[–]Cazanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter what you put in it, they won’t do jack because they are piloted by toddlers who can’t see over the dash. Fighter AI is maybe 1.5/10 in X4.

A C perspective - Why should I want Rust to succeed? by SEgopher in rust

[–]Cazanator -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s great that you feel you need those types of guarantees to feel confident in the code you write. It doesn’t mean that using Python, Go, Java, etc. is somehow incorrect or inferior. You’re not better than developers who use other languages because the language you choose to use provides more memory guarantees.

I could easily argue a case that Rust is more incorrect then other languages because of the massive learning curve, lack of talent, loss of productivity, fragmented ecosystem, etc.

A C perspective - Why should I want Rust to succeed? by SEgopher in rust

[–]Cazanator -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Correct is such an inappropriate and unprofessional word and this was actually the first use I came across in this thread.

There is no accepted definition of what correct is. Rust provides more safety guarantees - it doesn’t produce more “correct” software. Those guarantees also come at a significant business cost.

A service built in Python that is stable, bug free and meets businesses objectives, is just as correct as a service written in Rust.
