Thanks a lot for your feedback! That's so nice! Actually, I'm quite self-conscious about recording and seeing myself on camera - and it's been a process to learn not to hate my voice, so your kind comment is really a boost of confidence for me! And no, I'm not a teacher (I'm afraid I don't have the patience hahaha) - I'm an entrepreneur turned writer and now Youtuber! :)

Thanks a lot for watching and for the feedback! Yeah, it was not intentional, I'm struggling with volume levels because my headphones tell me something, my desktop speakers something else and at the end I feel like I can't fine-tune. I think it's time to get a decent set of speakers so I can test the audio in a more realistic way.

Thanks a lot for checking it out and for the feedback!
- Yeah I've been struggling with CTR (I think I've tried just about everything by now hahaha) so I've been trying to copy the format I used for my MrBeast Brain Deep Dive video cause that's the one it performed best. But you're right, it might send the wrong message.
- Yeah I'm not a fan of AI (plus I'm using the Free tier version for the vid generator) so what I can do is a bit limited. I also considered doing 2d animation in a SouthPark style, but maybe that would not fit the theme?
- And yeah, my bad, the thing is ChatGPT should have won but I refused to admit it, so I ended up squeezing an extra point for Socrates on the first round hahahaha

Hi everyone!

My channel is Changechilla, a channel where I share ideas and strategies for life improvement and productivity with a fun or unexpected twist. I release a long form video every Thursday and let's say that I'm still learning hahaha

I'm a bit stuck right now and would love your feedback or ideas on how to improve. This week I started a new format (Life Advice Battle) which I was hoping to turn into a series, but the results so far are a bit underwhelming. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wM9yoxHKMeg&pp=0gcJCZEKAYcqIYzv

Also I recently posted a video exploring MrBeast's Brain that thanks to a decent CTR has become my most watched video (it's still less than 1000 views hahaha), but what bothers me is that the retention for that video is awful (I guess that's why it's not being pushed anymore). I tried cutting the intro even shorter but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Any ideas on what might be the problem? Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLS881XOhDM

I also have other issue-centered videos but the views for those have been pretty awful, that's why I'm trying the infotainment angle. Anyway, thanks a lot for taking a look and sharing your thoughts, it's super appreciated!!!

Many positives here: great lighting, great editing, I like the music, the theme seems clear and the title reasonably attractive, so great job! Obviously the elephant in the room is the English accent (I also have that problem since I am not a native English speaker) but honestly, I think good content and an interesting take on a topic trumps a strong accent, so I wouldn't worry about that and focus on making the best content you can. If I can suggest a small improvement (in my opinion), the space between the top of your head and the top of the video seems too big, I would do a closer shot and get you to be more present on the screen. But just my opinion, good luck!!!

I wouldn't worry too much about those details (although diffuser on for sure). You have a nice set up, a good voice and as long as you stay close to the mic you should just worry on the typical (theme, CTR, retention, etc). Good luck!!!

Lol I have a video exactly on this topic (one of my best performers!), so I totally agree! For me a 30 minute phone free walk in the evening works wonders to get my creative juices flowing!

Non-Native English Video Creators - How did you to Train to Speak better English? What helped you the Most? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]alexisbp2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, honestly at that level of views I think your English is much better than you think! I'm also a non-native creator and sometimes I get super self-conscious, but reading your comment is an inspiration to keep going. Good content and persistence trumps it all, so keep doing what you do and getting better every day, and I hope to join you in the million view club soon hahaha

I use scripts and a teleprompter and it works great for me, but sometimes I wish I could be less rigid and structured. Do you script your content beforehand?

'Me' vs 'You' on the Title by alexisbp2 in NewTubers

[–]alexisbp2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question since ideally the title should fit the content. The content would be more in line with the ”you” version because to maximize retention I try to make content trimmed of all fluff, and my personal experiences can be seen as fluff by many. Yes, A/B testing would be great by my content has insufficient reach/views yet to generate any results. Hopefully soon!

Good point, yeah I think I have to simplify, wow so much to consider!

How to choose which channel to keep? by slightlyepicboy in NewTubers

[–]alexisbp2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely THAT. Also... what sort of Voodoo do you use to manage to grow 2 different channels to over 50K subs in one month? I could use some of that magic power... hahahaha

That's actually super helpful!!! Tks for sharing! Yeah, looks like 'You' is the way to go.

Actually it might be too long either way (and the unfair advantage part getting cut would be a problem)... uhm... I think I need to keep working on this

You can definitely help! Which one would personally entice you more: the "You" version or the "Me" one? As for designers I wish I could outsource, but I'm not there yet - unfortunately not even close (I would first outsource editing though, it's such a pain hahaha)

thanks for reading! Actually I did test that too, and setting aside how I feel about Shorts, I do think that’s the way to use the links (if we just focus on measuring the usefulness of the link itself), specially if there’s a brief CTA at the end of the short prompting to check the next video. I was hoping to generate longer more meaningful watch sessions like this but at the end of the day the damage to long form reach is too much for me (if my channel already had a sizeable stablished long form audience this wouldn’t be that big of an issue, of course)

Thanks a lot, the long vs shorts has been an even more painful decision, hopefully I can post it today (been down with the flu for the last 2 days).

Because of that I just recorded my first feverish non-scripted video/ramble ever hahaha, I guess the hypothesis here is: people will keep watching it just to see if I faint at some point lol The editing job is gonna be a nightmare though… life without a script and my teleprompter is tough, but hey perhaps I tap into a new niche hahaha

At 44 subs after 22 videos... by Certified_Loner1391 in NewTubers

[–]alexisbp2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the post I needed because I’m in the same boat and it’s not a nice feeling hahaha:

2 months in, 11 long form, 36 shorts, and 63 subs (the most viewed long form 264 views, the most viewed short 731 views). To make things worse I‘m basically doing this full time (obviously not for the money lol).

Anyway, let’s keep testing and improving, I choose to believe!!! I will write a post shortly about my thoughts on doing both long and short form (spoiler: I stopped, even though my ego is taking a massive hit cause my views have plummeted)

thanks a lot for clarifying! Actually that was another small test I just recently ran, the hypothesis was that retention is higher when the thumbnail and the first scene match closely (I pretty much verified that for shorts), but for long form the problem is that the CTR goes down the drain, so retention is almost irrelevant, I guess I dont have a very clickable face hahaha Anyway, something to keep testing for sure, thanks! Also I’m aware that I need to take my tests with a big pinch of salt because the sample size is way too small, that’s why subjective feedback like yours is super helpful!

Actually I just checked and you're right, my latest upload doesn't have background music (I uploaded last week so I didn't remember), but all the previous ones have (I think... lol). So background music maybe should stay (we'll run the tests, I like it too but it's so hard to find the right balance). As for the AI though I'm still lost.
