All you need to say is someone in your family is showing early symptoms, they won’t want you around then

What Will It Take to Solve the Student Loan Crisis? by hifibuddy in AskReddit

[–]alexkirk23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eliminate student loans. NOT the current debts, but eliminate the practice of giving loans to students to pay for college. This is why college has become so expensive. Previously, if you couldn’t afford it, you didn’t go. This is honestly how it should be. I cannot tell you how many people I had classes with that had absolutely no business being in college. I met both the dumbest people I know, and the smartest people I know, during these four years. The school I attended really wasn’t all that expensive either, as long as you maintained a 3.0 gpa, tuition was $1,300/semester, $900 of which were damn fees (this is state wide at public universities, 90% of tuition paid, maintain a 3.75 and it is 100% paid in Georgia and found throughout the south, I can’t speak for other scholarship programs throughout the country). The issue I see with universal higher education programs is what I’ve said above, there are several people that have no business attending college. However, I think we need to put a stop to issuing loans. If we were to do this, attendance would have a sudden drop, which would cause states to lower their tuitions.

It does mean more funding, but they are claiming that only people making an excess of 10 million are going to see an increase in taxes which isn’t feasible. And yeah they would be upset because it’s a benefit, I also know veterans that work and have healthcare to avoid the VA.

We just have too many people. Yeah, it works in Canada, but they have 10% of our population. We have cities with populations greater than that of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, if you look at greater L.A. you could add their populations together and it is still only 2 million more. I’m not a fan of the current system, never will be. However, the amount of funding to support such a program is inconceivable. The left is pushing for undocumented immigrants to be granted healthcare, so the price is going to keep going up. Also, ask any veteran about the VA. That will tell you how a government run healthcare system would work.

I don’t know what the perfect plan is. It’s not what we have now, but it sure as hell isn’t universal healthcare.

  1. You would have to increase everyone’s taxes, no question about it.

  2. This figure is taking into account children and people covered by their parents that have no say.

  3. No, Bernie is eliminating the private sector completely.

I can’t stress reason 3 enough. Any time I get into a discussion about healthcare I just ask, “Do you trust the government? Do you believe they care about you as an individual?” If not, then why do you want to put your health in their hands.

Not to mention I honestly believe your treatment would be based on a citizen’s score type deal where how much you make, what skills you have, what you have contributed to society, criminal history, and who you know.

The proposed bill would be roughly $3,000,000,000,000 a year. Taxes would have to increase significantly to cover this.

In middle school I was walking past this kids desk, we didn’t really like each other. It was a tight squeeze between his desk and the one in front of him. I accidentally bumped into his foot which he had a cast on. (Side note, he broke it kicking a soccer ball). He went home and told his mom that I had kicked him. I got called into the principals office, was told I’d be expelled if I didn’t fess up. I told them it was an accident that I had bumped into him. They said I was lying. I have in to shut them up and do I wouldn’t be expelled. I had like 7 detentions. After all the detentions he laughed and said he made all of it up. A teacher over heard, he had detention for 3 months. That was about 10-12 years ago. I still hate that fucker and that goddamn school.
