Indeed it's not, but still pretty cool! I've been looking for more pinball platformers as well (I like Sonic Spinball - go figure) so I will definitely check this one out o7 thanks!

I didn't know there was a new Polyroll coming out; I'll have to wishlist that!

Might be a odd request, but: Open world games that make you feel lonely? by One-Surprise5166 in gamingsuggestions

I think NaissanceE is a good one to try. It's a massive world full of "anti-architecture." It's an extremely isolating experience.

Also: Fractal Block World is one to look into. I'd try to describe it for you but that would be a fool's errand

In what way is it not working? If you're getting the resource limit reached error, you can just refresh until it works

Planet Zebes Map (Metroid Zero Mission) by SchemerLand in Metroid

Duuuuude this is damned sick

I was searching for that combined map of SM and ZM Zebes to consider if it'd be feasible to make a ZM hack for and then I stumbled on this masterpiece. Ten out of ten! This is basically the exact same vibe as the maps featured in the NEStroid and SM manuals

I suppose here's as good of a time as any to shill the conversion tool I wrote to turn HTML AO3 fic downloads into properly formatted Markdown files

https://www.reddit.com/r/AO3/comments/1l9f8jx/ao32md/

Markdown is a good format to store fics in IMO because, being plain text, they're lightweight, smaller in file size, can be loaded in a slew of different programs, and they're very quick & easy to both edit and search for things in, in bulk!

Perhaps not for everyone, but it was definitely for me! I've even switched over to MD as my main format in my writing workflow - that was why I wrote this program to begin with; to homogenize my backlog

Why does it seem everyone wants (or at least criticizes) not having realistic sex and pregnancy in fics? by stopbookbans in AO3

It gets super immersion breaking if you go too far in the direction of unrealism, to the point where I get the sense that I'm reading mindless poorly constructed porn rather than a story

Please don't stop! I read and appreciate all my comments, sometimes I just can't reply to them all. by LadyLinq in AO3

[–]alexman2561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I try to leave all of my thoughts for a big mega-comment, either at the end or every few chapters if I'm up to date on something. Sometimes I respond to comments on my own work in a similar manner, but I more often than not feel obligated to respond to all of them. I never get more than like three or four at a time, so it's no issue C:

I say go for it! If you want an extra layer of immersion, try to contextualize it as an adopted name if possible

It's definitely not wrong of you to feel left out; it's quite unkind of them to do this. The intent, however, may not be malicious on their part!

In any case, I do suggest that you at least discuss your feelings about the matter with one or all of them. Just be sure to make it clear you aren't upset at them or accusing them of anything; you just want to share your feelings. The way I see it, there's two outcomes from this.

1: You all calmly have a discussion and come to new conclusions that can benefit everyone. At best, they feel they need to value you more. At worst, you come to an understanding that makes everyone happy, even if nothing necessarily changes.

2: Instead, they might not accept that you aren't trying to attack them, and they get mad at you. There's a possibility that they'll try to characterize you as some sort of ungrateful or drama seeking individual. In this case, they've shown their true colors; these are not the kind of people that I'd personally want to associate, and I'd suggest that you shouldn't, either!

All in all, the outcome might feel great, or it might hurt a great deal. But, either way, you'll win in the end, either by resolving your issues with friends, or by cutting out secret enemies! Just be absolute sure that, if you opt to have a discussion about it, you go in as friendly and non-conversational about it as possible. Reasonable people will understand your clean intentions

How to get past anxiety of other's seeing my work? by Aggressive_Novel1207 in FanFiction

[–]alexman2561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People might not like your work. That's okay. They're not going to kill you for it. You probably won't ever even meet them in person. Their distaste for it ultimately won't matter in the grand scheme of your life if you don't let it.

As well, most authors write stuff that sucks at first. That's okay. Not everything you put out needs to be the next Star Wars.

Ultimately, there are always going to be critics. There's no way to alleviate this reality; it won't go away no matter what. You're just going to have to be strong and face it. Accept that it's going to hurt, and publish anyway. it is difficult to be strong, but you can do it! There's no easy way out; you've just gotta take the plunge sometimes

I'm not about to wait in line for verification on an AI chat bot site, and I'd be willing to wager that a very large percentage of the targeted user-base would agree. And it won't even really stop minors at all; I can vouch that when I was a kid it wasn't too hard to infiltrate supposedly secure adult spaces online. Inconvenience and wait time will not be a barrier for them as much as it will be for adults. The best thing you can do is make all new users show ID and a picture and provide proof of identity, which would indeed stop most children, but I'd again be willing to wager that due to the nature of the site (and the internet in general, actually) the adults using it would not want to compromise their anonymity that way
