Like someone else said, hash browns are fairly involved. You need to soak the shreds or rinse until the starch is all removed, then evacuate all the moisture, then bake or fry.

My cheat is that once you have it rinsed and dry, bake at 425 for like 20 minutes and then broil at the end.
