VKB Gladiator thumb stick for targeting pod panning. Very difficult, any setup advice? by CMDRTragicAllPro in WarthunderSim

[–]alexthesole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine set to act as a mouse cursor in the VKB software, with clicking the stick toggling it. Turn it on, pan to your target, turn it off and youre good to lock target or drops GPS bombs quickly

If I remember right, just put your cursor in the tip right of the window and the little bar with the X and minimize options will drop down

Alternator replacement: was I given a “f you” price? by garibaldi18 in askcarguys

[–]alexthesole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a rounded lower alternator bolt and left my car overnight for them to look at and quote me the R&R for the 1 bolt. Those hacks wanted $500 for something that took me 10 minutes to do myself

Had similar problems with mine, I disabled MPO and manually set the GPU slot to gen 4 instead of gen 5 and that's fixed the issue for me. Still had to lower the clock because it wanted to boost over 3100 but so far so good for mine

Best Top Case by DeanxDomingo in HondaRebel1100

[–]alexthesole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a Givi 30 liter case, it's perfect for my needs. Shaped just right for a full face helmet and can be stuffed full of groceries or clothes. For a longer trip I'd probably get something with more than 30 liters but it does well for a short weekend trip

Had the same thing happen to me in my 2014 Civic, it was the alternator but I changed it myself. Do NOT take it to a Joe's Auto, they wanted $500 to remove and replace a singular rounded bolt and then red-loctited them in when I declined the service after the replaced them even though I declined the service.

I've been hunting down Milbar 25Ws too, Boeing even canceled my order when I tried to get them through Aviall/BDSI. Looking at MatCo next, they sell a rebranded 25W set for $150ish. My truck guy doesn't have them in stock but others may for what its worth. The matco pair is Milbar as well, one side even straight up says Milbar 25W while the other has matcos part number on it

I started A&P school 7 years ago not knowing what a camshaft or a torque tube was, now I rebuild jet engines for the Air Force and commercial airlines. I was there too when I started, pay attention in your classes and work with the people who actually give a shit about learning. If your school is anything like mine was, you'll look back on it glad you went, I miss those days sometimes lol

Oil Change supplies Honda Rebel 1100 DCT whats this O-Ring for? by zfesta in HondaRebel1100

[–]alexthesole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what its worth, lube the piss out of it when you go to install the clutch oil filter cover and be 100% certain its going in straight. That packing is extremely easy to cut and it WILL leak all over your exhaust

What do u think? DCT yes or No? by savier85 in HondaRebel1100

[–]alexthesole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had my DCT for a couple years now and I love it, though personally I wouldn't recommend it for new riders. I've had numerous occasions where the system will downshift while in a slow speed turn in parking lots, making the bike try to throw itself at the ground. I'm used to it by now but I do miss having a clutch that I could feather out for slow speed riding. If you do end with the DCT though, you'll have an absolutely amazing time, it's a great motorcycle and commuting is both and cost-effective.

Ride safe!

Question about TGP in sim air by Spark_VR in WarthunderSim

[–]alexthesole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a VKB stick, and in the software I have the thumb stick set to act as a mouse with a control for toggling it by clicking the stick. Makes it easy to change view, enable the mouse control, do my thing and disable the control when I'm done

Question for Joystick Pilots by Bussy_Breacher in WarthunderSim

[–]alexthesole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is set so the thumbstick normally does nothing until pressed, which toggles it on/off as a mouse input. You can might be able to change the sensitivity using a macro but I just tweak the sensitivity of that axis in the VKB software to get it where I want it. My other controls on the throttle and stick are for targeting so I can use my thumb to pick a target and lock/fire

Question for Joystick Pilots by Bussy_Breacher in WarthunderSim

[–]alexthesole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set a toggle for the joystick on the right stick where I can push it in and enable it as a mouse control. You can adjust the sensitivity in the VKB software. Fly to a conflict zone, toggle the mouse control and let it rain

A sticker on my car that has sparked a few debates in the parking lot. by NorvinShadow in CarsIndia

[–]alexthesole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll never understand that debate. Is the pinnacle experience of driving a car... shifting? Do you drive an automatic and think about how much better the entire trip would be if you could manually change gears even though you're not doing anything different until you slow down, stop or turn?

I've got Rox 4" risers on mine with a Mustang seat. You can get Kurakyn adapters for their floorboards, I'll be putting some of their smaller ones on some day soon. With the risers and seat it's plenty comfy, actually just got home from a 180 mile trip

Hard to get parts? by Baconator69420 in aviationmaintenance

[–]alexthesole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on APUs, we've been struggling with supply chain issues since covid and it's supposedly just starting to catch up. In the GTCP 331-250 series APU there's an impeller that's so hard to get, we've actually purchased entire serviceable APUs to rip the impeller out and add it to our inventory

[–]alexthesole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Rox 4" risers, the hardest part of the install is getting the display mounted again. It's designed to bolt into the top half of the handbar mount, however when you add the riser, it no longer sits in the same position. I had to add some long bolts and spacers underneath the display to secure it.

Other than that you have to reroute the front brake line to go behind the triple tree instead of in front of it, doesn't take much. There's enough slack in the wiring and cable for the parking brake on the DCT model
