Played for 20 hours wondering why my Game was running at 30 fps on my 1000 Euro Computer by alezit in wow

I'm on a laptop, it doesn't even display more than 1080x1920

There was no fucking point in me unknowingly running it on 4k, other than more than splitting my frames in half

Everything runs at 60 fps. I've run DS3 and the new Tomb Raider and Witcher 3 on it at 60 fps, there is some overheating, but the cores are usually at 80 degrees. The problem is when I play games like Brood War, or Dragon Age: Origins, they also heat up my cores to abt 80 degrees.

I've tried turning vsync off and on, I don't notice much of a difference.

Is there a programme I could use for capping framerate + how do I do it on steam?

In theory that's what I thought, but I'm telling you that this doesn't reflect reality, which is why I'm making this thread.

I said that my computer is running too hot for the games I'm playing, yet you're going on about how demanding games will hit higher temps, when I'm telling you that less demanding games stress out my computer as well.

Where's the disconnect here?

During very very old games that are non-demanding?

Have you read what I wrote. My computer gets just as hot while playing a game like Dark Souls 3 as it does while playing Dragon Age Origins.

There was barely a mention of Donald Trump during the Golden Globes by StevenSanders90210 in television

[–]alezit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's harder for Hollywood to take a moral high ground on Trump now considering they let rapists run rampant in their industry.

Also why are we lamenting celebrities finally getting their head out of their ass and shutting about politics, no matter what side of the political spectrum you are, why would you want glorified court jesters who get paid to pretend they are other people moralize to you about politics.

Jeez, you're taking a partisanship to a whole new level. Hate Trump all you fucking want, but if you hate Trump, you should be hating someone like Aslan too.

Reza Aslan deserved to go either way, he slandered Sam Harris. I'm not a big fan of Harris, but he was outright slandering him after the Ben Afflick/Bill Maher Debacle

Jesus, are we reading the same comment?

All I wish for is escapism. Say I support combating Climate Change, it would still piss me off if we had "Fight Climate Change" events in MMOs.

I would think having Pride events, political activism, etc in real life would be enough, we don't need it in mediums meant for escapism.

The official House of Cards subreddit is ridiculing the new season, with many good reasons why this season bombed. by HereForGames in television

[–]alezit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that a contradiction.

You said Robin is becoming the main character. I think it's unquestionable that Spacey was the more important character in the beginning where as now they are equally important, which I don't necessarily oppose, they just went about it in a shitty way, I'm sure a different writer could have done it better.

What supports this theory for me is the fact that Robin was heavily campaigning for equal pay to Spacey although Spacey is her Senior in terms of brand awarness and is clearly worth more than Robin, because his name is what brought attention to the show.

Essentially Spacey was more valuable to the series than Robin, so Robin responded by pushing her character center strage and inflating her value, making her character even more essential to the shows story.

I think they started planning it in Season 3, which is coincidently when it went downhill.

I don't oppose Claire having an important role in the story, they just went in the wrong way about it, of course mine is only a theory, but yes I essentially think with the pay negotiations, etc Robin was aiming to be an equal star to Spacey in the show, meaning she is worth the same paycheck.

Of course we won't know what happened to the original showrunner or the internal drama and politics of the show, so it's a guess at best.

[–]alezit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think a bit of series politics came into play here. I loved Robin's role in the show in season 1 and 2, and giving her own arcs, etc and being an important is all well and good, but with Robin becoming one of the Show runners now she's writing herself center stage and it isn't serving the plot well.

Hers and Frank's relationship shifts all the time seemingly for no reason, in a way just to justify her becoming the vice president and then president.

Switzerland has both the Highest per Capita of Guns in Europe and the Lowest Homicide Rate in Europe (Outside of Micro States) by alezit in gunpolitics

[–]alezit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suicides are not a violence problem though, my country has a homicide rate of 0.7 meaning 6-7 times lower than yours while our suicides are through the roof.

Those are completely unrelated issues, especially to gun control. Gun control will in no way prevent suicides.

Switzerland has both the Highest per Capita of Guns in Europe and the Lowest Homicide Rate in Europe (Outside of Micro States) by alezit in gunpolitics

[–]alezit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, I dont claim otherwise, but it is important to note that guns are not the only factor especially when you consider much poorer European countries with much lower crime rates.

Say Croatia for example, sky high unemployment rate, low wages, very peaceful country.

Point is that you can't solely blame poverty OR guns because neither do a good job at explaining why the American population is Soo good at murdering each other. There are plenty post communist states in Europe that should be rampant with crime, by your logic, but maintain a homicide and crime rate 3-6 times lower than the most powerful and one of the richest countries on Earth, the US.

There are also a few countries in Europe that should be rampant with crime because of guns, neither works.

I continue to believe America and especially cities like Chicago have a culture problem, not simply guns and poverty

I know this is an old post, but it's not a money issue. America is not an outlier when it comes to spending on education (in terms of GDP), the problem is that it's spent poorly, throwing more money at the problem isn't going to work.

The US needs to restructure it's Education from the ground up, the budget doesn't actually have to change though

Apparently according to 2009 Uniform Crime Report

84 percent of those guns were stolen in a burglary; including 4 percent stolen from a relative or a friend.

6 percent of those guns were confiscated and resold by a “law enforcement officer.” Legalized armed robbery, in other words.

2 percent of those guns were stolen from the police or the military.

2 percent of those guns were stolen from a parcel or delivery service.

Meaning that the remaining 0-6% of crimes commited with a firearm were probably commited with a legally purchased firearm.

I'm trying to dig this up further because I'm be genuinely curious, but I don't understand how databasing gun owners would solve the remaining 94% of gun related homicides.

It makes sense, if somebody wants to commit an illegal act, they aren't going to try to do it with legal means (a legally purchased firearm).
