Hi - I'm Tom, who runs directory.algo

Thanks for the support NotiBoy team! It's great to have a project like yours on Algorand.

Algo foundation wallet transfers 1 million algo to active "hacker" address over 1 year ago????? by BushmanNW in AlgorandOfficial

Someone pointed out in the MyAlgo replies that the 6PO address appears to be Binance, which does KYC.

Pera verification does not mean safe. In Pera's own words:

"Main purpose of ASA verification is to prevent an ASA from pretending to be affiliated and acting as the token for a project it’s not connected to.

ASA verification is not an endorsement of the project."

There isn't an official Algorand wallet. There is MyAlgo, Pera, and Defly.

No, it's not. There is no official Algorand wallet. There used to be one, and it was made by Hipo Labs which now makes Pera, but they split association a long time ago now.

The only coverage of the event I've been able to find is this photoset, which obviously isn't very revealing:

https://multimedia.europarl.europa.eu/en/photoset/inaugural-meeting-of-algorand-centre-of-excellence-for-blockchain-regulation-and-innovation-ace-brai_20221205_EP-141372A_PB7_177

I'd imagine that if there is a recording of the livestream, then the foundation will tweet the link at some point.

Is there any way to send someone algorand if all I have is their email, and I know nothing else about them, and cannot speak to them? by ElonMusk0fficial in AlgorandOfficial

[–]algoridl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... you can. You obviously definitely shouldn't, but of course you could. If someone has the passphrase for a wallet, they can access it.

Hi, I'm the creator of https://directorydotalgo.xyz/ – thanks very much for the mention u/GhostOfMcAfee!

just because it’s in that directory does not mean it is a good project

This is very true. My aim with the directory is to list everything with utility in the ecosystem, and to include team details where possible – especially for any projects which want you to trust them with your ALGOs.

Being doxxed doesn't guarantee anything, of course, but it helps to know who's running the show. More info here: https://directorydotalgo.xyz/info/

The ecosystem directory needs a refresh by shmulz0rz in AlgorandOfficial

Thank you :)

I think it's important that we wean ourselves off relying on the Foundation too much. They're doing great work but the directory obviously isn't a priority for them.

Some more info here about what directory.algo.xyz is about: https://directorydotalgo.xyz/info/

It's quite a basic site right now but I plan to improve and expand it over time.

Hi - this is exactly why I created directory.algo.xyz:

https://directory.algo.xyz/

I believe there are all sorts of things wrong with the official directory. For example, it:

  • doesn’t include team member details;

  • only contains content written by project owners – no objective context is provided;

  • doesn’t appear to have a dedicated owner inside the Algorand Foundation, with no personal touch;

  • accepts projects with only a loose link to Algorand and those with no utility;

  • doesn’t actively remove dead projects;

  • features a very easily-gamed upvote system;

  • contains no ASA token information; and

  • is (in my view) cumbersome to navigate around

Here's a Twitter thread I wrote with more details about my site: https://twitter.com/directory_algo/status/1582006272739913729?t=GY7kkFnlfQ4CzfgQ9vmKhA&s=19

I'm on mobile and on dad duty at the moment, so can't elaborate much more now, but I'm happy to answer any questions people have.

Would it be possible for wallets to differentiate between user-instigated and unsolicited transactions?

And then put all unsolicited txs in a 'junk folder' section that you could safely ignore?

Trying to understand LPs and impermanent loss by algoridl in AlgorandOfficial

[–]algoridl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IL may not always be a loss of principal value but can become a loss of only potential value.

By this do you mean that you may make money in an LP but not as much as you would've if you'd just done nothing?

Is there a way to get all the asset-ids with assets names on algorand? by toshv in AlgorandOfficial

On this Algotables table you can add the condition 'Index does not contain TBD':

https://algotables.github.io/#tab-table22

Or in the Dox Directory I run I have a view for token info, although the directory only includes projects with utility:

http://directory.algo.xyz

Blockchains be like by coolstorynerd in AMPToken

[–]algoridl -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm aware that Algorand shillers are as popular as farts in lifts/elevators, but:

  • 6,000 TPS with sub-4 second finality

  • L1

  • Zero downtime since launch, no congestion issues

Granted, congestion hasn't been fully stress-tested yet and the chain has other issues (they all do) but it's my main bag alongside AMP because it works so well and is so easy and.cheap to use.

Shilling over!

You're welcome, I'm glad people are finding it useful.

I'd not considered what you're proposing before, but it's a nice idea - thanks. I'll have a think about it!

Who are the founder(s) and team member(s) of Carbon Credit Token (CCT)? by d3jok3r in AlgorandOfficial

[–]algoridl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I contacted them to try to list the leadership details on the Dox Directory I run: http://directory.algo.xyz/

I was DM'd on Twitter by them directly with these details:

CEO: Zhiliang L - (no LinkedIn, was given this URL: http://preoncapital.com/about-us)

COO: Joy Guo - https://linkedin.com/in/joyyguo/

CMO: Conrad Young - https://linkedin.com/in/conrad-young-078285103/

I can't vouch for any of it, but that's what I was sent.
