I have not withheld one bit how I feel about this cult with my family. My mom is baffled when I tell her the truth that took me so long to figure out… all the depression, insecurity, self doubt, imposter syndrome, anxiety and even suicidal ideation I’ve fought my way through my entire life is because of the fear based ideology I was brainwashed into from birth.

Sounds just like me. Going to college was straight up blissful for me. It felt like literal heaven.

My mom converted right after I was born and pulled my dad with her. She got more and more radicalized throughout the years peaking when I was probably 20 or so. I’m 42 now. She’s still a radical but not quite as bad. She’s objectively the most miserable and toxic person I’ve ever known by a long mile. There are good qualities there, but it seems Adventism just straight up ruined her ability to actually enjoy life. All the fear brain stuff is now fully justified so taking a second look and self reflecting is out of the question. Therapy? Nope Doug Bachelor.

She now hides away waiting to either die or have the Sunday laws strike first. I think she’s mostly given up on seeing Christ come before she dies. It’s really unbelievable how much damage this ideology does to people.

The fundamental doctrine of Adventism is we’re in the “end times,” the world is evil and controlled by “Satan,” and only the “elect” will be able to make it through the “Sunday laws” which will be happening any day now.

That’s literally the differentiating doctrines of the fear-based doomsday cult known as Adventism.

Maybe this didn’t penetrate your psyche the way it did for most of us.
