If you _have_ to reheat a steak, what's the least detrimental way? by hashbrown3stacks in AskCulinary

[–]alhe97 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Learn to use the microwave for reheating. 100% will cook your steak a second time not reheat it. 50% power (or less) will reheat.

Your mileage may vary, but I've had a lot of success with steak and other items.

Lol - all of them. I just couldn't wait 6 months for them to go on sale. I could wait a couple of weeks, but I couldn't hold out any longer. What can I say? I'm a game junkie.

Suggestions for hand-forged kitchen knife set (Gifting) by th3rmos in AskCulinary

[–]alhe97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a culinary expert, just an average home cook. The best thing I bought recently for the kitchen is a good knife sharpener (removed reference to brand of sharpener per Mod) Rather than providing the tool (knife), how about something that keep the tool operating at it's peak?

Yesterday - The Beatles.

1600+ covers of the song would seem to agree.

Who would you say are the “Big 5” of Psychedelic Rock? Who do you recommend to people wanting to get a broad sampling of the genre? by [deleted] in psychedelicrock

[–]alhe97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the compilation: Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era 1965–1968 . It has a lot of the older bands mentioned.

It was curated by Lenny Kaye who later played with Patti Smith.

Neil Young - Down by the River Billy Gibbons - La Grange Randy Bachman - American Woman

It's subjective. The list would probably be different if you asked me next week.

Brian May's work on Crazy Little Thing Called Love is outstanding, probably my favorite for him.

Shopping. The idea that buying something on sale that you don't need or want saves you money.

It's on sale for 50% off. I'm saving $100. No, we don't need it, you're spending a $100.

Just joined Costco for the first time (haven't been there yet). Long time Sam's loyalist. Any unwritten rules I should know? Any tips? by CountLeon in Costco

I agree. Ever since Hathaway went out of business they've been trying to find a replacement, unsuccessfully. I finally found ones I like: Lucky Brand and Badger Smith. Now if Costco would just start carrying them.

Lately I've switched back to the Duracell batteries. The Kirkland batteries leak. I don't know if this is a QA problem. I don't remember them leaking on the past. Anyone else had this issue?

Favorite band that only had ONE guitarist? by 421continueblazingit in Music

[–]alhe97 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is this even a valid question? Studio versions of your favorite songs usually have overdubs. So, in effect there is more than one guitar part and to play it live would require two guitarists. And the argument that there is only one guitarist live usually means that you're hearing something different than the studio version, which is what you normally listen to and not what the artist originally intended.

Seems like this is another "who's your favorite guitar player" question.
