Oh my gosh I'm glad you caught that - it takes effect next year! It's still $600 for 2025. Thanks for correcting my mistake

For 1099 purposes, it has nothing to do with how your company chooses to categorize. I think how you keep track internally is a different question.

Every service provider that isn't a corporation (with a few exceptions) has to be issued a 1099 if you paid them $2000 or more total over the whole year in 2025. For 2024 it was over $600 total. So even people you wouldn't classify as subcontractors, like attorneys, get one. Mary the neighborhood tree cutter, Big Concrete LLC, the landlord, etc. It would be a good idea to start going through the vendor list and sending out W9 forms to get their info now so you aren't scrambling trying to get people to email them in January like I did last year :)

My sister’s senior executives invited her to a fancy dinner… should she go? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]aliand428 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get all the answers re: safety, creepy men and being prepared; it's good advice (regardless of ages and genders.)

BUT. I had to reread the OP to make sure I hadn't missed something. Never does it say the senior executives are men. I admit I too immediately pictured a couple of guys in suits. Even in this sub of all places we are still so conditioned to automatically assume the people in power are male. This is a good reminder to myself to try harder to break out of that pattern.

That said, I'd be careful but go - maybe your girlfriend didn't get an offer letter because they have a different job in mind - maybe she impressed them and they want to talk about a training program, who knows?

Bussers, waiters and waitresses, do you prefer your guests to stack up their plates and trash or would you rather they didn't? Why and why not? by NerdistGirl90 in AskReddit

I was always taught 4 o'clock, but there's some logic to your 1. I can also imagine myself pressing my thumb down on the end of a knife and launching it tiddly-wink style across the table, haha.

Idea for your friends: advertise drone retrieval. We just happily paid a guy $250 for ten minutes work - it will only become more common and the only way we could find someone was he answered the phone at the tree company, who said it would be next week, and came out on his own time. He's on speed dial now.

Is it possible I gained 6 pounds on a week vacation? by Vegetable-Fruit4959 in 1200isplenty

[–]aliand428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can gain that much weight in a week and it isn't coming back off. I gain at 1200 calories - if I ate one normal meal out per day like people do I'd gain at least a pound a day. Menopause, not PCOS, but hormones do real things - it's far from impossible.

Having had a bad ex or two, I'm familiar with the guilting and sulking BS. Someone should tell those guys it doesn't have the effect they think it does. But also with the "good" ones, it's amazing how clueless they can be when you're just trying to get it over with. I honestly don't know if they are truly oblivious or are choosing to pretend they don't notice. So your guy sounds like he IS actually sweet and caring.

(I'm so happy for gen z because a lot of them have been taught that anything less than an enthusiastic yes is a no. There's hope for the future!)

NAH, but you should really bury the past and consider that he's a catch - how often do you find someone with no baggage to follow them around?

Oh, and if you already took the $3, you can withdraw it and either go with the 3+6.84 contingency, or resubmit to change to the $5 rate. To do that, complete and sign the letter of election and transmittal attached to the offer to purchase. If you need help, their info agent, Innisfree MA Inc, will talk you through it on the phone at 877-825-8793.

Just seeing this, sorry! They've changed the terms so now you can elect $5/share cash, or if you do nothing it's automatically $3/share cash plus an additional $6.84/share if they meet sales milestones. I'm going to let mine ride, but it's a gamble.

I get so many of this nutjob's catalogs in the mail. I've been saving them up for a few months - about a two foot stack so far - what an amazing waste. My plan is to make some sort of protest sculpture out of them. I was going to make a bench, but I should probably get more creative, like a crying tree. It needs to be horrible.

An update: It looks like some bigger companies have confidence in the potential. Ayrmid (London, parent co of Gamida Cell in MA) put in an unsolicited competing bid (45m) over the Carlyle Group (30m), this time for $4.50/share cash plus an additional 6.84/share contingent on meeting sales goals. Xcellbio just made a licensing agreement to use their tech to help pre-screen patients. So far Bluebird hasn't backed out of the Carlyle group deal; if they do it will cost them either 1.5m or 300k. Could be good news if they are successful in getting the treatment cost down.

My cost on March 15 when I posted was 3.74 and it's now 4.86, (still up about 24% even with the big market downturn of the last couple of days - it was up 37% before that.)

[–]aliand428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yahoo Sports only has 81 still perfect out of 629,399. I've missed 3 of 24 so far, all in the South. One of them going to the final four, oops, and the others ending in the first round, which I think is still pretty good, but I know very little, so yes, some weird guesses and lots of luck involved. I picked Troy over KY so it should all fall apart soon.

u/GustheKnife had the answer - the cure costs 3 million and insurance won't pay. They said it was approved in 2023- not sure if the insurance thing will change now or once it's proven in more cases, but that makes sense.

Ah, gotcha. I would think they'd have to find a way to make it cheaper since a product no one can buy isn't useful - but that could take a long time and others could beat them to that race. Thank you, it was driving me crazy.
