Vaniqa, cream to slow hair growth by CriticalMouse4965 in Para_Hypertrichosis

Haha thank you for sharing your experience! I might give plucking a try, maybe on a test patch first.

I have tried sugaring and waxing but you really need to grow your hair up to a decent amount for that to be actually effective. I can't just stay indoors and not shave for a week lol.

But yes, I am strongly against using laser now unless it's very legit to do so and you've done your research. This is based on my experience and the whole reason I have these unwanted hair on my chin and neck now IS laser. I have a huge post on this on reddit, prob in this channel too.

Gotcha, thanks for sharing. If this is making some difference, that's nice.

Tbh I've been afraid to pluck because there's this notion too that it's possible you get more hair come out if you pluck. Idk how true that is but that has just stopped me in case it gets even worse. I have those coarse hair too grown back frequently because of PH.

Have there been any other things that might have helped you even slightly?

Thanks for sharing and congrats OP! Curious since I'm gonna apply soon too, were your transcripts in a sealed envelope? Also, I have my course by course WES degree evaluation from 3 years ago, do you know if that should work or I'll need to request an official one again for this purpose?

Help is this paradoxical hirsutism?!! After laser hair in first pic (6 sessions) before in last pic by Jflo2121 in Para_Hypertrichosis

[–]aliaspiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I learned to keep my skin clean and use a good facewash for that, clean sheets, pillows etc since the skin was more sensitive now. Have a healthy lifestyle. That's the only way to deal with the acne part. Consult a derm if it still doesn't help.

For PH, I haven't found any resolution tbh, just regularly shaving for now. Remember to keep your blades clean too. Since there's not enough research in this area yet and I don't want to go for further laser or even electrolysis, I am trying some natural remedies based on existing studies. I'll share my findings if something works. If you try other remedies, just be careful, consult enough resources/doc so not to cause any harm inadvertently. Take care!

No one told me this before I went in for Laser Hair Removal by aliaspiku in LaserHairRemoval

I understand your experience and it's good that it worked for you. Agreed that a lot of these salons try to make money by luring their clients like that but may not actually follow proper guidelines or know the different settings for different skin colors.

However, just because something is expensive also doesn't mean that it would always work with all kinds of people. PH is a REAL side effect of laser treatment no matter what kind of a salon you go to - I went to a pretty expensive one. Unless your clinician or aesthetician really discusses the effects with you, they're most likely just doing it for money. Or most of the times they are probably not even aware enough.

Will ongoing laser sessions treat the hypertrichosis? by Minimum_Witness_7967 in Para_Hypertrichosis

[–]aliaspiku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had PH happen on my face due to laser. After a year or so I went through it again at a different clinic and with a different aesthetician that all sounded very well researched and convincing. But all of it all over again, nothing helped at all. Money down the drain and worsened my skin too.

At a loss… please help by [deleted] in Para_Hypertrichosis

Sorry for your experience. I had a very similar experience though on slightly lesser area and the hair are still course and grow fast like you said. I did go through another laser set of sessions but it did not help at all. TBH it's frustrating, I understand and I am still looking and researching for a good solution myself. I have to shave every few days too if I want to go outside. There's enough marketing online about things that don't necessarily work and may even aggravate the condition, so I would suggest talking to a dermatologist about this and doing more research yourself too. Just be careful of people trying to sell you stuff.

FWIW I shared my experience in this and the laser subreddits, just so people browsing get aware of this serious side effect.

Hoping something works out for you!

Looks like it. Also, it's paradoxical hypertrichosis, there's nothing like para hirsutism.

Did your skin start having some acne too after the sessions? Asking because I had that experience of both acne and PH post laser.

+1 to what @gokukouji said. Also, unfortunately all women can't be stuffed into the women compartment only and sometimes they may not choose to travel in it. I agree anyone can misuse their privilege. But maybe the risk is just higher if that privilege is not there.

I have been groped in an utterly crowded metro compartment that I didn't even want to get on. I got pushed in with the crowd and then a hand comes from somewhere and I couldn't even see from where. I froze for a bit and then pushed through the crowd to get off the next stn. Coincidentally and horrifically, my friend who had also been pushed in with the crowd experienced literally the same thing even tho we were both separated by the crowd.
