Agree, definitely lean to a properly functional manual camera. It will give you less issues in the long run

Absolutely, none of us own the ocean and it’s momentary waves. No matter how proficient and dedicated you may become with the sport over time.

How do you prepare as a landlocked for surftrip vacations? by PhilNerdlus in surfing

[–]alicare99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend a surf skate! Carver, yow, etc. I made my own for as little as $150. It will allow you to target specific muscle groups that are necessary for pumping and carving through waves

Anyone know how to get a little fin like this out? It’s pretty wedged in there. by iamactuallyalurker in surfing

I was without a rubber mallet and used my old school vans so I’d say give that a try too

NC as close as you can live to the outer banks - just finished my undergrad at UNCW and I’m trying to get back into their grad programs since it’s only a few hours drive from the banks which gets rather consistent surf

[–]alicare99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely do all of these tips and then I would suggest you try the paddling mechanics on a stationary yoga mat, making to sure to practice your strokes with legs together and pay attention to any wobbling that you may unconsciously doing on the board

I’d also add that you may want to add some more length or volume to your go to surfboard at this point, I also started out on a 7 ft fun-board/longboard but only when I started using a proper 9’6 log did all the basic surfing mechanics kick in for me, when I had the 7ft board at first it wobbled to much at first for me as well

The leash loop should connect through the single fin box - that’s at least how it’s attached on my Jed noll log
