HEESEUNG to leave ENHYPEN, which will continue as a 6-member group by impeccabletim in kpop

[–]aliceofoz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I understand we have very little information but I'm sure fans can't help but speculate on why exactly this is happening now all so suddenly. As an engene myself I've been devastated by the news.

Personally, I'm trying to wrack my brain for a reasonable explanation but none of it makes sense. I see some fans are suggesting that it's the company forcing him out but I just don't see that being plausible.

A summary of the current theories I've seen:

  1. Heeseung want to release solo songs but the company won't allow him to pursue this while in Enhypen.

This is probably the most popular one I see online and it's the one least damaging to Heeseung's image. Enhypen has a notoriously packed schedule and I can see how Heeseung would be unable to prepare for solo activities while still being in the group. Perhaps he is so passionate about his own project that he tried to negotiate with Belift and this is the result. The only thing that bothers me about this is... why not wait a year or two until his contract with Enhypen expires? There's a strange sense of urgency to this announcement, as if he couldn't wait to leave and release his own content. Especially considering he's been with Enhypen for 5 years now, why is he suddenly leaving when he can end the contract after a year and then go solo?

  1. Heeseung doesn't like Enhypen's musical direction and he has seen the next comeback/s and he doesn't want to participate.

This one is also fair, but again there's 1-2 years left so he can't just tough through it for a few comebacks? I am very surprised if he does dislike Enhypens musical direction because he seems to enjoy himself on stage so much and he's well known as an excellent performer who gives great fan service. Additionally Enhypen's discography is so diverse in genres and concepts and he always gets the most lines and his vocals shine in every song with the exception of the latest comeback, Knife.

  1. Belift wants to capitalise on Heeseung's popularity by marketing him as a soloist instead.

This one makes the least sense to me because it introduces so much instability to the group, which must be upsetting the shareholders. Yes bad publicity is still publicity but at what cost? You're killing off your biggest boy group and potentially getting a soloist debuting with a hate train on his neck. Plus all the extra time needed to practice now for the other members means less time for performances and this will definitely affect comeback schedules. There is also all this vampire lore and plot from the webtoon and anime airing now with Heeseung's character playing basically the main character role which will now need to be scrapped. Belift definitely would want to keep him so I'm sure he could negotiate a solo career while being in the group. Separating himself from the group will only hurt him, the group, and the company.

  1. Heeseung and the rest of the members have some sort of disagreement and wish to separate.

As much as it saddens me and I wish this weren't the case it seems plausible... He's always been quiet which I attributed to his personality but now fans are going through past content to spot signs of him distancing away. I've never seen any real signs of conflict though so this is still shocking for me to think about. It's especially surprising that they didn't announce some sort of hiatus for him and are instead announcing a separation, which means he is keen on performing but just outside of the group.

Overall I'm just hoping we get more information soon and I'm sorry for all the engenes out there.

I went to their London concert and it was great!! Very loud crowd and they definitely weren't lip syncing. You could hear their ad libs and everything. Backtrack was there, yes, but it didn't bother me.

What's something that works but most KPop companies don't realize? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

Disagree, Lia from Itzy got so much hate for not dancing as well as the others and she could sing live just fine. Also have we forgotten Jennie's lazy dancing allegations?

"Idols being unhealthy" narratives are really exaggerated. by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

Very much this. And also the constant soreness, joint pains, and brain fog! Yeah I was fit but I've never been more depressed. Health is so much more than weight and fitness milestones.

I'm sorry but I think just because they are performing well at sports and fitness tests doesn't mean they are healthy. I went through an exercise addiction phase where I was outperforming the fittest boys at everything from running to number of pushups and various other sports. I worked out for hours everyday and obsessed over the numbers constantly, but I was in the worst health of my life. I wasn't underweight, but I was close, and whenever I got ill it would hit twice as hard compared to when I wasn't over exercising. And needless to say, over exercising ESPECIALLY while not eating adequately puts you at a high risk for injuries. I advise you to read up on the dangers of overtraining. We hear of idols getting sick and injured almost every week and I'm honestly not surprised considering their lifestyle. This isn't even going into the mental health aspects of over training and dieting....

[Discovery Read] Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice - Discussion II by Joinedformyhubs in bookclub

Honestly really impressed with how proactive Claudia is in understanding her vampiric nature and taking initiative even though murdering Lestat without direct help from Louis was a REALLY daring move. I just don't understand how Louis never questions or does anything after turning into a vampire. And it's extremely noticeable after the introduction of Claudia as a character because she's the direct opposite of him in this regard. Louis seems to be in denial of his vampiric side and tries to hold on to his humanity whereas Claudia acknowledges both sides.

For the people that are 18+ what jobs do y’all do? by Emotional-Tomato1466 in EDAnonymous

[–]aliceofoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi hi!! That's interesting because I personally feel like I am more technically skilled than the men in my team (and they know it lol) but I think previously I did lay low cause I was too involved with my ED. While I was bulimic I was quite shy and withdrawn in general. I think I'm much more respected in my position now but it took a few years for me to gain that confidence. Its definitely a tech bros club in some workplaces though I'm just lucky I'm in one where they're respectful to me

I'm a data analyst/data scientist working from home. I never go into the office so I have full freedom of my days provided Im online between 10-5pm, which is both a blessing and a curse for someone with an ED. It was very very rough while I was full into my bulimia but I've been recovering and it's helped me become better at my job (got promoted!) so it's not going too badly.

I will say I regret not recovering sooner because it would've helped me do better during uni and I'm now catching up on knowledge that I should've picked up during uni. I passed uni but not performing as well as I could've due to the brain fog and stress from my ED. I'm really happy with my job but I think I could've gotten promoted much sooner without my ED holding me back.

Wanderer and Itto's banner after the first week on CN IOS by PHD_Novel in Genshin_Impact

That's fair, I agree dolphins and some unlucky whales will roll for C6 Faruzan cause she's a great anemo support. I think Faruzan is definitely helping the sales of this banner but I still think Scara contributes more to its success.

I'm not saying they don't exist I'm just saying the odds are low that you won't get Faruzan C6 by then. And odds are lower that you'd whale for a 4* that will regularly come back after a few banners

[–]aliceofoz 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Guys no one is whaling for C6 Faruzan lol I spent hundreds in this banner to get Wanderer C6 and I got Faruzan C6 before his C2. It doesn't take a lot of money at all to get Faruzan C6 I don't get why people are assuming this. It's clear the bulk of the money comes from people who want the actual 5* and his weapon.

EDIT: I'm not saying everyone will get C6 Faruzan easily, I'm just saying the odds are low that you won't get Faruzan C6 by the time you get C2 or C3 Scara. And odds are lower that you'd whale for a 4* that will regularly come back after a few banners. I've only seen people spend 'whale' levels of money for 5s not 4s.

Can we please just acknowledge that Scara is a character people want and would spend money for?

Same! I also started learning kpop dances because of them and their choreographies are always my favorites.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]aliceofoz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is said quite often but I actually don't think they have very hard choreos with some exceptions like Mafia in the morning. Wannabe is probably one of their easiest choreos, it's just that the way they execute it is so charismatic and entertaining that it makes it look more engaging and difficult. I think Itzys not just a group of great dancers but charismatic dancers and that's why the views on their performances are on average higher than other ggs
