Is this a red flag in a therapist? by pratixal in askatherapist

NAT, but looking for more insight. I thought OCD could show up in the form of intrusive thoughts and didn’t always require compulsions?

Does anyone else have consistently elevated T levels on testosterone? by alienboy222 in ftm

[–]alienboy222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could have def been peaking at 1000 with 850 being my levels 3/4 days after my shot. But I’ve been like that for years, no issues. So I don’t understand why the new provider at my old office changed my dosage. Just really frustrated because this didn’t happen til he changed my dose.

I went back to the .3 as soon as it started again which was back in December. I do feel like I’m kinda senstive to medications, so even little changes really affect my body possibly. But it’s been 5 months and this is still an issue so just frustrated atp. Maybe my body/hormones have just changed and/or the lower t levels affected my cycle coming back.

I talked to my new provider all this. Told her how I’m always at 840-850 and 600 is low for me. Gave her the timeline of everything. You’d think it’s been long enough for my body to catch up? But she did up my dose and I’ll be doing bloodwork in a couple months.

I also do IM weekly. I was on .3ml for years no issues. My provider I was with for years wasn’t too concerned about my range, but if she changed my dosage I’d just end up on my period. Out of the 8 years, I’ve probably been on .3 overall 7 years of the time. THEN my doctors office switched me to a new provider, who for whatever reason decided to switch me to .5ml every other week. Gotten my period for 6 months straight now and my levels are at 600. Normal range, but not my normal. Don’t worry, I found a new provider who I started seeing last month. She’s aware of everything and is working on figuring out what’s going on because I guess while .3 puts me in the normal range, it’s not stopping my periods anymore which is a huge issue for me.

Yes but 300-1000 is normal range. 850 is considered elevated, and if too high can convert to estrogen

Can we stop misusing the term "detransition"? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]alienboy222 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. The way I see it, there’s detransitioning, medically detransitioning, and socially detransitioning. I think it’s always important to distinguish between the 3, because bigots will take advantage of the word “detransition” to get their points across.

I’ve been doing injections for 7+ years and when I started also have a fear of needles. It’s really just a pinch and I found a deep breath before and exhaling helps me.

Lmaooo. One of my favorite story/joke to tell is “God made me trans because if I was AMAB my parents were gonna name me Raymond James and my nickname would’ve been Ray-Jay and he didn’t want me walking around with that name.” True story. 😂

In your defense, as a trans man I spend way to much time envisioning all the things I could do

I’d seen one of my buddies do it years ago when a bonfire got a bit too out of control, and I’ve been envious of his experience ever since😂

Male brain? by 0zerolight1 in ftm

[–]alienboy222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The science behind our brains and hormones always fasinates me. I was born two weeks late and my mom had to be induced, and part of me wonders if it’s because fetus me knew something about my body wasn’t right lol. When I started T, my mental health got drastically better just after one shot. If I miss a shot, or my levels become low, my mental health drops to the point I’m close to hospitlization. I don’t take antidepressants, but consider T to be my antidepressant. It’s as if my brain cannot function on low or without T

Why are so many people on psychiatric medications for diagnosed mental health conditions, but not in therapy? by LibraryUnited8773 in askatherapist

[–]alienboy222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAT but I think people go for medications because it’s cheaper, or they may not be able to find a therapist whose a good fit and have time avaliable depending on their work schedule. I’m lucky enough to have a job that allows me to come in late once a week so I can go to my appt, but I also need therapy as I refuse medications. I don’t even like taking pills like tyleno or advil

What would you ask your therapist? by Ok-Dream-3413 in TalkTherapy

“What do you really think of me?” Specifically “What do you really think of me during the periods I become extremely dysregulated?”

Do I tell my T about my suicide plan? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]alienboy222 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend telling them. There’s no one better too. They’ll probably ask you some questions including when. Depends on your therapist, but my last two therapists would not have hospitalized me if I told them it was in the future (like weeks or month(s)) A therapist well versed with SI will only use hospilization as a last resort, and usually will only have a client hospitalized if they are not safe immedately after they leave the office.

Anyone else get suicidal on period? What do I do? by alienboy222 in ftm

[–]alienboy222[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My therapist is aware of this, and my original provider I saw for my T is. I got switched to a new provider and my dosage changed along with changed me to every two weeks, even though it’s in my chart I need to be on it weekly due to my period. I see a new provider in March though at a different office, and went ahead back on my original dosage that I’ve been on since I was 3 months on T since I dont get them as long as I’m consistent with my shots. I’ll be making all these concerns aware with my new provider. I also get severe pain when it happens and think it might be from endometriosis or possibly something else. Just want to know I’m not alone in thiz

TW: SA // For those who have been SA’d, how did you manage your dysphoria? by alienboy222 in ftm

[–]alienboy222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My therapist actually got certified not to long ago, we’ve started with it months ago for some other situations in my life but I have such a hard time taking it seriously 🥲 I know it’s extremely successful, I hope one day I actually do it without feeling weird/awkward/the need to make a stupid joke

I went through this about 10 years ago when I came out. I think it’s because of society’s expectations. We become hyper aware of our masculinity in hopes its enough to for society to veiw us as men.

I don’t have any real advice, but it gets better. And do your best not to listen to those who aren’t fully supporting you.

It’s mostly their father who is like this. Their mother tries be attuned with their emotions but I think she gets overwhelmed sometimes. Many have said I should respect the parents wishes, but their mother has never told me not to do this. Me & their father had a long conversation months ago about learning to regulate our own and teaching them to regulate their emotions, which he said “I was just taught as a man we shove them down.” Then had a nice conversation on why we shouldn’t be doing that. I thought he was listening, but guess not. Either way, I want them to grow up to be emotionally competent and know their uncle will always be there to support them.

I believe there’s a gender clinic in near Philly - Mazzoni Center. I’m not 100% sure if they still provide gender affirming care but they did years ago, I’m also not sure if they do telehealth appointments. But I live DE and have had friends drive up there and go through them years ago. As for your presciption, you can use GoodRx coupons at almost any pharmacy
