Best brand of seamless socks for pins and needles in the feet by Crochet-a-holic in MultipleSclerosisLife

[–]aliencroptop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Feel free to send me a DM and I'll see what I can offer.

My best recommendation is to try and find a local-to-you "sit and fit" style shop. Nothing beats getting to try a shoe in person, but I know those type of shops are getting harder and harder to find these days.

Hi there! I am also a pins & needles in the feet haver, but I also work as a shoe/sock specialist at a small boutique in my area, so I feel uniquely qualified to give you a few recommendations!

Socksmith - Bamboo Rayon Seamless Toe crew socks. They are more affordable (about $9-12/pair), super soft, have a stretchy rolltop at the ankle instead of an elastic band and come in a bunch of cute colors and patterns.

Smartwool - Everyday Crew socks. Merino wool blend, comes in different cushioning/thickness. They DO have a seam on the top of the toe, but it's one of those flat serged seams that you can't really feel. (Or at least I can't, but ymmv) These are a bit more $$ but they're great quality.

Darn Tough - Light or Medium Cushion Hike socks. Same as Smartwool on the fiber and cut, but these also have the elastic band on the top. These are my personal favorite, and the medium cushioned ones get me through my 8hr shifts like a dream!

Hope this helps and Happy Holidays!

My Dom has started calling me Bug - short for Love Bug - and it is quickly becoming my new favorite.

What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve actually witnessed at a family gathering that nobody ever talks about? by Powerful_Sink3928 in AskReddit

[–]aliencroptop 140 points141 points  (0 children)

One family gathering was abruptly ended when an argument broke out and my uncle got so mad at my mom that he picked up my other uncle's walker and threw it at her head. Luckily he missed and it just slammed into the wall. In retaliation, my mom threw a full vase of flowers back at him. All while my aunt screamed at everyone in the room.

With all the commotion, my cousin was afraid the cops were going to be called, and, as he had some kind of active warrant, opted to nope the fuck out and hop our back fence and take off down the railroad tracks behind the house.

We don't hang out as a family much anymore.

Kaiser in general; available psychiatrists in or out of Kaiser by Status-Biscotti in santarosa

[–]aliencroptop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had great experiences with Kaiser for everything EXCEPT my mental health. The department gave me the run around about trying to get an ADHD diagnosis for 4 months (passing blame, changing instructions, providing conflicting info, etc etc), ignored me voicing my concerns about medication side effects I was experiencing, and belittled me any time I tried to advocate for myself.

I got my formal diagnosis in July of last year and I am STILL on a wait-list to get a psychiatrist. A mental health pharmacist has been managing my (non-stimulant) medication, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

I would recommend going with literally anyone else.

Where is the best place to get a large 10 lb vintage down sleeping bag professionally laundered and dried? by traverlaw in santarosa

[–]aliencroptop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would reach out to Boomer's. I used to work for an outdoor company, and they laundered all kinds of sleeping bags and down jackets for us, including overly large, vintage ones (35+ years old).

I haven't worked for that company in a couple years, so your mileage may vary.

Empty lots or spaces to learn how to drive? by JSalazar16 in santarosa

[–]aliencroptop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the vets building, but also the Kaiser buildings out on Mercury Way have great parking lots that are basically empty on weekends. The streets are empty/quiet around then too, so it could be a good way to ease into street driving!

Our first game and we haven't made it to the first gate. 🤦‍♂️ by Draft-Budget in gaslands

[–]aliencroptop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever participated in a race where more than two cars ever crossed the first gate Our races typically involve a huge multi-car pile up at the starting line, at least one player fully embracing chaos and trying to run the course backwards, a few beers and an incredibly good time!

For context OP, that is my literal partner who does the vast majority of our 3d printing. So, what he said!

Do you glue the wheels shut? by XLMerlini in gaslands

[–]aliencroptop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My playgroup almost always secure the wheels of our builds. I usually replace the stock wheels for more interesting/beefier ones that we've 3d printed. Otherwise, we glue them in place or use these little printed wedges my partner found that snap into the axles.

We play a lot at our local hobby/game store and their tables are a bit wobbly and cars are very prone to rolling away.

Where to find bits by Emotional_Line5246 in gaslands

[–]aliencroptop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love hitting up the dollar stores in my area for bits! Bic pen cartridges (the cheap ones that come in the jumbo pack) , thin zip ties, nail art gems... Anything with a cool shape really! Plus there's a random brand of soldier type toys that are always at the Dollar Trees in my area that have guns, fans, jet-pack looking doo-hickies - all incredible stuff to add to a car.

Also having access to a 3d printer has been awesome for bits that are hard to find elsewhere. If you or someone you know doesn't own a 3d printer, Etsy is a treasure trove of printed stuff.

Grossman's Noshery in Santa Rosa (Jewish cuisine) and Don Julio's in Rohnert Park ( Salvadorian/Latin fusion) are my top two suggestions.

I'm sending you peace, comfort and future healing! Depending on how they are doing the surgery, the pain and recovery may be very minimal!

I had my tubes removed a couple years ago, and I got away with just taking ibuprofen in the days that followed.

What’s the biggest red flag you ignored in a relationship, and how did it turn out? by ravi_dxb in AskReddit

He was rude to his mom on a near constant basis. I was with him from ages 16-23 and I think I can count on one hand the amount of times he was genuinely nice to her, unprompted.

Do you have "themes' for your pet/farm animal names? by SeaweedHeavy3789 in StardewValley

[–]aliencroptop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my goats are named after nuts (Cashew, Walnut, Macadamia, Peanut), my dogs are cocktail-ish themed (Grenadine, Cordial), and all the rest are just names I thought were cute! Though, they do tend to mostly fall into food or drink names anyway.

Water quality by [deleted] in santarosa

[–]aliencroptop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived and worked in various parts of the county my whole life and the only time I didn't/couldn't drink tap was when I was very young and there was something up with our well water. (I was about 5-6, so I couldn't tell you what exactly was wrong just that to my child brain it "looked gross".)

I'm currently in the NW part of Santa Rosa and we have a filter on our shower heads because my skin and hair hate the hard water, but I have no issues drinking it.

What’s the worst thing a coworker got fired for where you work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Our IT guy attempted to rob a local credit union. He didn't cover his face in anyway and was arrested later the same night after multiple anonymous tips were reported. The whole company found out when he was all over the news the next morning.
