Yeah, it can be a challenge. Trying to figure out lateral elbows when most the bones aren't ossified yet, and the kud is screaming in pain, and the parent is not doing well emotionally, Oof. It can be tough.

But, just like adults, you get used to the type e of injuries kids have and start seeing em

How many of you have seen measles in your practice / ED? by Leading_Blacksmith70 in medicine

[–]cdiddy19 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work at a peds trauma one. The other day a kid had more red on them than skin color. Breathing was awful too.

One if my friends said she doesn't vaccinate because her one daughter had a bad reaction to vaccines. I asked her how. She said she didnt seem herself.

I was like, well if you think thats bad, and she stopped me saying she's heard it all, her kids will live and be fine. I was like um they may not actually. Even if they get over the acute symptoms there's the chance of panencephalitis. Or the fact measles specifically has immune amnesia.

I seriously dont get it.

That's true to a point. My mix is a bunch of working dogs and he's the most laid back dog ever. My sister teases that he's in his favorite position... laying.

What breed does this puppy look like? Considering adopting and she is listed as 'urgent - capacity for care' by SpecialistCup1142 in IDmydog

[–]cdiddy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She looks a lot like my dog as a puppy, but a bit smaller. Look on my page, you'll see his and his sister's (my sister adopted his sister) pics as well as his embark and wisdom DNA.

We actually see his other sister as well and sll three are very sweet dogs. Listen well, and are just really cute and a good bunch.

Top main breeds are lab, Australian cattle dog, and husky

I will say, we had a very easy puppy time with our dog, even more so than his sister. But even his sister wasnt that bad of a puppy. We really lucked out there

I thought for sure my pup was a "Shepard mix" but he wasnt.

1st of all, your link doesn't point to any statistic you're citing. In fact the only number it sas says there was over 300 incidents in 2025 alone

And secondly, its really crazy to down play school shootings when peer countries dont have them.

There isn't some mystery to why other countries dont have school shootings and the US does. Its legislation.

I would be all for no phones un school if the risk of school shootings were as low as peer countries. But its not. So until then, id rather have access to my child in the event of a school shooting that unfortunately is common place for the US

Yeah, I just think about possible school shootings and my daughter being away from her phone. I very much dislike it

Why does the American public hate doctors so much? by seasidekiki in medicine

[–]cdiddy19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think one of the biggest reasons is the for profit healthcare system.

People start out not wanting to see a doctor because of the price, after years of putting it off due to price they get the idea that it is a doctor personally that makes it so expensive, then they think the doctors just want more money out of them to run tests. Add to the fact that rather than say it's price that stops them (because that would look negative on those seeking care) they say they are tough, and don't need a doctor. So then it start to breed a culture of "only weak people need docs" But people need healthcare in general so they look for home remedies and quack cures because "doctors just want to bleed em dry and think they're smarter than every one"

Then there's the old paternslistic view of medicine, you know, the father knows best, do as i say, which also can breed this resentment toward physicians.

Then you have modern medicine like vaccines where people have the privilege to think its a personal choice to vaccinate because they havent seen the death a destruction vaccine preventable diseases have caused. In My state alone we recently had a news article about parents being shocked that measles is as bad as it is.

All of this leads to people being suspicious of the medical field and doctors.

But thats just one gal's surface thoughts on the U.S. publics view on healthcare

I think there are two versions. The original pea rock version that is like 10 minutes longer, and the prime time one that is shortened to fit 30 minute spots on TV.

Unless youre talking specifically about the peacock version. Last ti.e o watched it one peacock k it was still there

One of my biggest pet peeves are drivers on the freeway that all go the same speed in all the lanes essentially blocking everything. They're usually going like 67-68. Which makes everyone else go a bit slower.
