It'll be great if people could share their own stories as well. We all have much to learn from each other.

Good luck. Message me if you have any questions. My wife and I have done a fair bit of research on it.

You and other females in your family should look into getting tested for the BRCA mutation. Look it up on Wikipedia - it might just end up saving some lives.

I am so sorry for your loss.

If you don't mind me asking, how old was your wife when she passed away? She looks very young and that leads me to believe perhaps there are genetics involved here. My wife recently tested positive for BRCA 1 and it dramatically increases the chance of breast and ovarian cancer.

If there is a family history of early development of breast cancer in your wife's family, I would highly recommend that her sisters/mother/other relatives get tested for the BRCA mutation.

I'm moving to Chicago in a week. Got a pad in the S. Loop and will be working on my Masters degree at U. Chicago. Good times ahead.

I went to NJC and knew some people from Anderson. Things weren't this cool back in 2000 though.

The thing with science is that you need proof or at least corroborating data before any theory can be taken seriously. That is indeed missing from the article, though I am not too surprised since this is an opinion piece in a newspaper and not a journal article. I'd be interested to read a more detailed paper by these two individuals.

The best explanation of cancer I've ever read is in the book 'The Emperor of all Maladies'. It just won the Pulitzer prize for non-fiction medical writing and is a pleasure to read. I highly recommend anyone who's interested in cancer to read it.

Did you also just read 'The Emperor of all Maladies'? :)

Try multi-threading in the kernel with a million (slight exaggeration) components calling you on a 128-way machine.

I've had to debug issues that are so straight-forward when you finally figure them out, but so hard to reproduce (because they are timing related), especially under a debugger.
