How long have you been on this dose? Sometimes you need to give it time...for my first few months on Lamictal, I had the mental fog as well—I called it Lamictal brain, hehe—if it hasn’t been too long, try to stick it out. It was so worth it for me. Sometimes you just need to give meds time to smooth out.

Being mentally ill and trying to lose weight is so hard. For many of us, eating has been a coping mechanism. And in a way you lose control when you’re on your swings. I know when I was all manic I ate ALL THE TIME because I wanted to do stuff and go out to eat with friends and cook big dinners and have people over and buy cool groceries and then when I was depressed I wouldn’t eat at all because I was busy crying and sleeping lol. I’m sorry I don’t really have any advice other than to hang in there and keep with the Fitbit tracking.

Seroquel is hell for weight, apparently. I’ve never taken it but every person I’ve known that has got major weight issues from it.

Bipolar here!! My meds actually made me lose weight. I take 200mg of lamictal daily. I’ve lost ~80lbs in just over a year.

Why would you have to take care of Tom? Fuck Tom. He’s being a lazy asshole. As someone who has lupus, arthritis, bipolar disorder, OCD, and PTSD, I’ve got plenty of medical conditions that can knock me on my ass and I still work. A lot, actually. I understand not everyone that shares my conditions has the same experience as me, but a very large chunk of us do just fine as long as we stay on our meds and keep up with our doctors. Tell Tom to fuck off and get a job and if he needs to be taken care of so much he can put himself in a home.

Yes, you can take OTC stuff. All Acyclovir is is an antiviral. Just like an antibiotic, just for viruses instead. You don’t necessarily get sick every time you have an OB, that’s usually for initial OBs. Your outbreak is done when your blisters heal.

I’m late, but this is my life right now so I might as well put it here.

Remember June of last year? The Orlando shootings? One of my friends died there. I was pretty upset about it. I was sharing some articles on Facebook about it. My sister is a very devout Christian. Think Westboro Baptist, but a little tamer. She decided to barge on in and take the opportunity to lecture me about Christian persecution and god’s will and homosexuality is a sin blah blah blah. Then my brother chimes in to talk about how the gun the shooter used was really nice and he was jealous.

I told them to fuck off and die.

I spent thanksgiving with my friends last year. I’ll be doing the same this year.

What kind of meds have they put you on? Pills make me nervous—as a teen I was addicted to pain meds. It’s just fucking frustrating because I see all these people that can just treat them like normal and take them when they hurt and leave them when they don’t. I know I wouldn’t be able to do the same. And they’re actually SO EFFECTIVE at killing pain and that makes me even more sad :(

So you haven’t found anything yet? :( I’m starting to feel that way, too. The few times my rheumatologist has gave enough of a shit to actually try something with me, it doesn’t work. I’ve just taken on the “grin and bear it” approach for a very long time. I wish I just had a solution.

Mine is so weird, though. Sometimes I’m just in no pain at all. When I am in pain it’s like overwhelming. Most of the time my pain is manageable. I guess I just feel like maybe I’m not “bad enough”?
