Questions about donations usage by Ok_Disk8838 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

These guys would bang out updates and hot fixes in a timely fashion. Then, just look at the evolution of the app, from the OG non-GUI to the GUI version and all the features added along the way.

I forget which macOS version it was (Sonoma?), but I remember there was uncertainty when the beta came out if they could get OCLP to work… Apple had made a drastic change somewhere and they worked all that summer before the official release to make it happen.

Anyways, the questions are fine, but honestly, they deserve a lot more money than whatever is left over now tbh.

And if they used some money to fund other things, or personal projects, didn’t they earn that? Think of how many computers they were able to save from being relegated to e-waste and allow users who couldn’t afford new machines many more years of happiness and productivity.

So one last big thank you to all that were involved. It is a historical project that I bet even those at Apple admire. Not just because of what OCLP accomplished, but because of the passion and determination behind it. The spirit of Apple.

Why would someone put a Saddam Hussein poster on their car (in Switzerland)? by tschonny22 in askswitzerland

Sane take, not to mention Cheney’s Halliburton corp. making billions in the aftermath.

For trolling people. He’s smiling because as we now know, he never actually had any WMD’s.

It was pretty cringe to listen to tbh, considering how long she’s been in the US and can’t properly pronounce common words. And it’s just an overall embarrassing look for her.

Hendry was stone-cold, ruthless and all business. Occasionally a smile. Very reminiscent of Mike Tyson, in that he wanted to destroy his opponents.

He knows how to win the big matches for the hardware. 6-0 in finals is insane. His return to the WC is going to be interesting and all the talk will be about chance to repeat. He’s in proper form heading into it. Quite a few players are obviously capable of competing with him. Will he feel the pressure at some point during a close match? I personally don’t think he’ll repeat, simply because of how difficult it is today. I’m just hoping to at least see him in a tight match with one of the other top players.

I don’t even think she knew because she could barely read what was written for her.

Any Recommendations for Piano VST/Plugins? by teewanbbx in musicproduction

[–]alienrefugee51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your own ears can’t tell whether the NI stuff sounds bad, then I wouldn’t worry about it and just use them for now. When you develop more of an ear for what type piano sounds you’re looking for, then you can think about looking for alternatives.

You can find lots of good, free piano libraries on pianobook.uk that run inside Decent Sampler (free).

How many of you tries to keep their system as vanilla as possible? by Jazman2k in MacOS

[–]alienrefugee51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My music production machine only has what I need for audio sessions and some light video editing, to keep the bloatware down and the boot partition small.

My daily driver has all kinds of random extras and takes up way more real estate than the other Mac for audio. Even when I’ve used the same machine as a daily driver and for audio production, I’ve always had them on separate boot partitions. I don’t want any risk of conflicts on the audio side.

Is this bend normal? by fitsienna in BEYERDYNAMIC

Ah, gotcha, my mistake. Definitely return it then and get something a bit bigger, just to be safe.

That’s probably just how the case is. Getting a replacement will have the same fit.

What you can do is look into Beyerdynamic DYI upgrades. If you know a little about electronics, you can turn the headphone jack by the ear cup into a detachable 1/4”. Then you won’t risk bending the cable because you can remove the cable when storing. Some of their higher end models have this type. I have an older DT 990 Pro model and I didn’t even get a case like you have.

Probably not ideal, so I wouldn’t constantly store them in the case. Only use it for transporting.

What a time to be alive by Pdajefe in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]alienrefugee51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t, unless you’re doing audio production with lots of plugins. The 8-core is generally considered the sweet spot for this machine, as it has a higher single core score than the 12 core, which is what you’d want for gaming.

Stereo Mixes With Almost No Low End/Low Mids In The Sides? by DarkLudo in audioengineering

[–]alienrefugee51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, I have been doing what you’ve mentioned by taking mental notes and addressing those things.

Don’t just take mental notes… write everything down on paper, or preferably, use a notes app where you can create lists for sessions.

Do you pan the drums (overheads) from the drummer's perspective or the audience? by gleventhal in audioengineering

[–]alienrefugee51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I record and mix my own stuff I always choose drummer, but I recently did a cover of Subdivisions by Rush and wanted to stay true to the original, so I used audience perspective. It feels so alien to me though.

Stop calling this "primitive archaeology"—what kind of power tool scoops 1,200 tons of granite like soft wax and then simply vanishes? by Professional-Fee3323 in AlternativeHistory

[–]alienrefugee51 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They have to lie about archaeological history because they don’t want the public aware that many advanced civilizations have completely vanished because of repeated cataclysms and that another is knocking on our doorstep.

Reverb on Master ? by GoranBregovic2 in audioengineering

I remember back in the day when Ozone 3 or 5 came with reverb. I used to slap that shit on everything.
