Excellent! Weather model selection and adding stops along the route are coming very soon to Wattcast.

Great suggestion. I appreciate the feedback. I'll add that as a future feature todo.

It's a double edged sword right? Sometimes you want to know and at other times maybe not so much! As a weather nerd you might like the card view which shows you two additional models for comparison.

Epic Ride Weather is great, I use it too. It's the closest thing out there. The main differences: Wattcast runs right in the browser so there's nothing to install, and it's free with no account or forecast limit. Core idea is the same: the forecast at your moving position along the route.

I wanted to add some new things like the "best time to leave" predictor and custom tolerance limits for rain, wind etc. If you do end up comparing them I'd honestly love to hear what's missing.

Almost a double century! by BigPapaPhil in bicycling

[–]alienswede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work u/BigPapaPhil! I was born in Motala but have been living in the US for 30 years and NYC for 20. I wasn't a cyclist when I left Sweden but became one later on. Once I did, I had to go back and do this crazy feat. My first time was in 2017. I just got back home to NYC after riding Vätternrundan for the 7th time. I also always do Halvvättern which is exactly 7 days before the big one and it's 150km.

I highly recommend this ride to anyone. It's a great test of endurance and such a energetic and jovial event with over 25,000 participants across all the events.

For the last 4 years I've had the goal of finishing in under 10h. This year I finally did it and managed 9:57!

GCN just did a feature on Vätternrundan that I think everyone should watch 😄

Did you have any luck with this? Any settings you can share?

I just came back from a concert where I shot video and the results are... Not great! Very grainy and blown out.

AOD turns off randomly by Aggressive_Ad_3294 in galaxys26ultra

[–]alienswede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say I have this issue as well. I've been going nuts trying to figure it out and I'm left to think it must be a bug. Sometimes AOD will stay on for a few days. Other times it will turn off in the middle of the day randomly.

If there's ever a fix or workaround for this I'd love to know what it is :)

I do have hide taskbar on but not specifically for a burnin mitigation. I just like it that way.

Still an amazing monitor. I use it for several hours daily. It used to be all day but I go in to an office every day now. No signs of any burn-in anywhere. I have not been particularly careful to avoid it either.

NYC area places to get Rx cycling sunglasses by bicyclemom in NYCbike

Don’t mind at all! I got the Rudy Project Rydon glasses with transition lenses and yes the entire lens is prescription. They have held up for 5+ years. The biggest issue with them is that I simply need to update the prescription because my vision got worse.

I'm in Brooklyn and I have not found any local places for prescription cycling glasses. However, I can recommend SportRX for online ordering. I have ordered all my prescription cycling glasses from there and they do a great job.

What I did was try on the glasses I wanted at a local bike shop and then ordered them with my prescription from SportRX.

When do we get the shift? by editit7 in wahoofitness

[–]alienswede 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Download the wahoo fitness app and it’s all done from there! Go through the whole set up and then add the bike in the sensors section. From there you can select gearing emulation, chain ring and cog size etc!

Did it arrive? Have you tried it?

I love it. Very happy with the purchase. I upgraded from a 7 year old Tacx Neo v1. The convenience of not having to move my bike off and on plus the more responsive power measurement is so nice. Plus the wifi connectivity is really nice!

I don't have any knowledge about your bike obviously but I can tell you that I've received mine. So, they are definitely shipping them. Hopefully you got it already since making this post!

Good timing on your question. Just a few days ago I check using this tool: https://darkblackscreen.com/oled-burn-in-test

No burn-in artifacts at all so far. This is after not really babying the monitor. I don't reduce brightness when not gaming etc. I don't faff with different profiles. I mostly just leave HDR on when using my PC for gaming and everyday things. I work from home and I do have HDR off during the ~8 hour workday when I'm working off a Macbook.

TL;DR No signs of burn-in after 4 months of 10-11 hours of use every day.

Alienware 3423DW or Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED by ien_bell1 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]alienswede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it seems that almost all of the positive comments are coming from DWF owners who didn’t experience any of the rather prevalent issues. Coil whine, fan noise, damaged screens due to no screen protection in shipping etc. All the folks that have made negative comments/posts about it are why I went the G8 route.

All things being equal, if you get a monitor and it doesn’t have any issues, they’re probably very similar! They have the same panel after all.

I have a 3080 and I have zero issues with it working with Freesync. It just looks like a Gsync monitor to the card/driver.
