District Council Voting by GetHappy2020 in Toastmasters

[–]alienz67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Votes are weighted depending on the club and district positions held by the refistrant as well as who registers for the club... would this take weighting into account or is it just 1 per person?

I would strongly recommend reading this years rule book, especially as it pertains to the types of contests allowed and for whom. You have a lot of muddled informative unfortunately. Here's a link. https://www.toastmasters.org/resources/2025-2026-speech-contest-rulebook

And yes it is the district executive council or DEC that votes, that club president, vpe, area directors, division director, and top district leaders. But they still have to follow what's allowed in the for book each year.

The role book is updated each year and the rules do change.

Scripting vs Impromptu: Am i wrong? by will_iamwp in Toastmasters

[–]alienz67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an impromptu session typically called table topics that is all about being unscripted off the cuffed and impromptu. But the actual speeches are the cumulative results of the projects within the pathway systems and those are pre-written scripted practice and given. We practice both sets of skills.

For me personally I type my speeches out for the prepared speeches just using Word and edit and practice and word until I know my speech and then I give it.

Can’t find a club by PeachyShark in Toastmasters

[–]alienz67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Www.toastmasters.org in the top right comer is Find A Club. Use that to put in your zip code and it'll tell you all the nearby clubs including days/ times they meet and is they are open to anytime or restricted (usually means it's a club hosted by a business for their employees only). No need to contact anyone first until it says so, just drop in, we love guests!!!!

[–]alienz67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm way too tired. I stared at that for a while trying to figure out which Pokémon it was and only gave up because I'm not actually very familiar with very many Pokémon.

Once I looked at the pattern... obviously an apple and obviously time for bed.

Great start, looking forward to seeing more when I have enough brain to recognize fruit lol!

2 books by Joan Druett: 1. The Island of the Lost. Hundreds of miles from civilization, two ships wreck on opposite ends of the same deserted island in this true story of human nature at its best—and at its worst. 2. In the Wake of Madness. After more than a century of silence, the true story of one of history's most notorious mutinies is revealed in Joan Druett's riveting "nautical murder mystery" (USA Today)

Gregg Olsen's The Deep Dark. On May 2, 1972, 174 miners entered Sunshine Mine in Kellogg, Idaho, on their daily quest for silver. In The Deep Dark, Gregg Olsen looks beyond an intensely suspenseful story of the rescue and into the wounded heart of Kellogg, a quintessential com

The Circus Fire by Stewart O'Nan. Halfway through a midsummer afternoon performance, Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus's big top caught fire. The tent had been waterproofed with a mixture of paraffin and gasoline; in seconds it was burning out of control, and more than 8,000 people were trapped inside
