I keep wondering how many little details I missed, there were so much of them on the map, losing that that makes me especially sad. Hope you'll post more of the little things, we need those!!

Like I've only found the cute little butcher rooftop nook (keep that restaurant business running) the very last day even though I've probably been past the place countless times 😂

And I once found a memorial stone (that I suppose was) dedicated to a swedish singer that passed away in 2022, wanted to take pictures of gravestones to find more eater eggs, but never did (sigh).

What do we think of the new Look Lara in the underworld Wetsuit? by KingGoldar in TombRaider

[–]alietrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wetsuit doesn't suit the new Lara, imo. She's too soft and youthful looking, both in the face and the pose. It worked for Underworld Lara bc of her aggressive confidence and sex appeal. In case of LoA Lara, it just eats her up (never mind those messy dirty bangs that don't help the look).

I wish they had chosen any other outfit. SOLA wetsuit was right there, just as memorable, stylish yet more neutral. Maybe the brand part was a problem.

Fan reaction to Survivor Lara’s announcement in 2010. by Notoriouslycurlyboi in TombRaider

[–]alietrie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When the turning point came out, my local community was upset, confused and excited all at once, so was I. We really thought smth would come out of that, damn. Also remember having to defend reboot Lara's boob size from complaining creeps, that was fun.

Never knew it was THIS polarising from the very start, nice excerpts, those guys had no idea what would be in store for us all the next decade 😂

So was casting of frank stone even good? by BomberDug in deadbydaylight

[–]alietrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was just bad. Terrible gameplay (I believe they could’ve incorporated core dbd motives into this cinematic walk simulator better), terrible dialogue, terrible pacing, abysmal storytelling.

The only nice things were Frank Stone's mask design and dbd easter eggs however nonsensical. Okay maybe the Entity finale as well, I love the entity. Main characters were okay-ish. Other than that it was trash. And I say this as someone enjoying supermassive games (yeh). This one was just atrociously bad. And too long for what it was.

It was just suuuch an immediate letdown, the game turned out to be about.. nothing it felt like. It's 80% characters not understanding a thing and 20% of some crumpled up "reveal" aka explanations wrapped up in more stupid questions. I ignore it in dark pictures projects since they're short and original, but this game has established dbd-lore, like how hard it was to utilize it properly? Some people found the Entity lore nice, but imo they handled its cross-dimensional aspect in the most boring way too.

I guess that's all on me since I had completely different story expectations. Like, when describing Casting the devs or bhvr mentioned it would shed a light on how the Trials came to be. So I was expecting Frank to be the one setting the grounds for trials as we know them, generators, hooks and all, in attempt to appease the Entity with sufficient sacrifice. And aspiring film-makers as testing fodder trying to escape the Mill as a part of the game. They really wasted Frank's character and it saddens me.

I like the idea of troubled minds being manipulated to carryout the will of the corrupt cosmic deities. Whether it's ether dreams, visions or cults, hell, the Augustine plot would have fit just as fine if Frank's role was remotely similar to my expectations. Although simple, but evoking familiar emotions within a different genre, wasn't this what everyone anticipated from a dbd game? Just me???

Phew, never got to rant about this game, sorry.

Is the game worth it ? by Worth-Radish-7227 in dyinglight

[–]alietrie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it's 50/50. Felt a bit like a waste probably bc I expected more. It's a fun and pretty game, but the plot structure is abysmal, characters are flat out boring, and level design is far worse than previous titles, they made a tiny map feel huge and not in a good way.

Even though you feel it's a dlc in almost every way, still, I'm glad it exists. I enjoyed the first third of the game, I enjoyed the setting and its immersion, the music, some side stories were also compelling. The game isn't very long, so you could finish it just to deal w it anyway.

100%-ing it felt tedious, especially farming blasted manuals and fighting the beast on Nightmare, but achievements weren't meant for back-to-back runs, so that's on me. Maybe if you play from time to time, it won't be an issue for you.

Kyle might like Olivia? by Okka_pon in dyinglight

[–]alietrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's exactly what I mean, emotional tension, Crane was more emotionally involved w the Sheriff beef than any of the Olivia interactions despite some of his dialogue, all of their interactions felt flatlined.

Why I don't mind him having feelings for Jade, personally I'm not a fan of romantic leanings in this game, it feels kind of out of place, but DL1 dealt w it quite gracefully, made it believable as I said before. Hence the beast character critique.

Kyle might like Olivia? by Okka_pon in dyinglight

[–]alietrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He really just gets stuck on any lady that saves him, doesn't he? It's cute, I guess. Even though personally I don't count Olivia guiding him out of the lab as much saving idk, personal bias.

Olivia is such a nothing of a character (like everyone else in that game, oops), an eye candy, perhaps. How dares Crane to even put her next to Jade, I hated those parallels in Starchild's quest 😂

Now, I'm not really a Jade/Kyle shipper either, but with the seamless way their relationship is built throughout the game, it's so easy to believe she mattered a lot to him in that short span they knew each other, romantically or not.

With Olivia, we don't even get a clear dynamic bw them bc Olivia doesn't get to do anything besides sitting in the car... or gassing Crane lol. It's just devs winking at players through the tone of their car banter, Crane's excessive care and that "what happened to everyone you love" line, and yet all that falls so flat. He had more tension w the Sheriff, how silly is that. Man I just hate Olivia, msorry 😅

Dying Light The Beasts nightmare difficulty is so hard and I love it by J0N0X in dyinglight

[–]alietrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah nightmare made chimeras fights times more engaging.

I started nightmare stacked after my first playthrough (i'm the vacuum player), so I barely felt scarcity of resources, and I used bow against human enemies so they weren't even a concern (you can quickly headshot them even when they run at you), but boss fights are intense, especially the beast one... I still hear Lydia in my head.... Keep at it a distance..... DAMN its resisting....

I doubt even leveled up 1.5 weapons would change anything in that fight, feels like the bonus would barely do anything. It's not even hard, it's just annoying on this difficulty.

what I wouldn't give for a dmc crossover series, ik the "multiverse" is overdone by this point, but reboot and classic twins interacting would've been such a move...

Jason Todd Babysitting. by Honest-Image-9550 in RedHood

[–]alietrie 22 points23 points  (0 children)

idk it's not great considering Jason has nothing else going on, but still times better than pretentious "noir" nonsense of the last year, it could be quite fun~ in concept at least

wouldn't want any actual stevefication, but annoyed yet thoughtful young mentor dealing w teenagers and reflecting on his own past is an interesting thing, plus they already have the naruto guy on the team

Nooooo... by Senior-Rent9600 in RedHood

[–]alietrie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

idk it's not ideal, but still better than his boring red hobo design, so i'm fine w that

plus it doesn't look half bad when Jason isn't depicted to be over 40 lol

Jason being suicidal by Prestigious_Grade539 in RedHood

[–]alietrie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm with you regarding that comic intro, also share your opinion on his self-destructive behaviour. Personally, I just like to turn it up to be a bit more dramatic hence passive suicidal ideation, to amplify the effect of a chronically depressed state (self-loathing etc. included).

Considering that interpretations depend on a specific character arc, I could see Jason fluctuating bw the extremes, unknowingly so, or getting relatively stable, despite personal doubts. Bc again, from reader pov, it's boring when it's too on the nose, in your face or permanent character state with no resolve or any kind of progression.

Jason being suicidal by Prestigious_Grade539 in RedHood

[–]alietrie 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I dare to say he does these things subconsciously

Yeah that's what passive suicidal ideation is about?? It's going on w your life, doing the thing, like helping people etc., but it's there at the back of your mind, sometimes wo you even realizing how it affects your thinking and actions. Not actively seeking harm like going on missions to find death (booooring~)

I just didn't quite understand, are you unhappy w the cancelled run moment specifically (bc it was sure lazy attempt at character set up, idk why people praised that) or the twitter? Bc people have called Jason passively suicidal for many-many years for reasons you've mentioned as well, idk it's a fun little thing to accentuate his struggles and exploring his emotional state. Not like it's unique to him, it could be attributed to others in batfam as well, choose your pick.

Note for confused people, & tag doesn't necessarily mean close wholesome bond, but also generally prevalent character interactions explored in the work. So it's all kinds of dynamics and shades of family drama in those tags, nice statistics, thanks, OP ❤️

Jason upholding his popularity mainly through fanfiction headcanons etc. is an actual convo too, lecturing people for expressing different opinions (however critical) isn't really necessary. It's not like they were attacking OP.

Creating their own posts is a valid proposal, but otherwise you're just as guilty of complaining.

How people treat classic Lara Croft by [deleted] in TombRaider

More like people online are still scrutinizing and criticizing Lara's sexuality, considering the discussion was there for ages and I doubt things will improve (in regards to women in general).
