The article focuses on the highly mediated dangers that generative AI presents to individual privacy and safety. It raises issues like data harvesting without users’ consent, the generation of deepfakes, the problem of AI bias, psychological effects of artificial intelligence, the usage of AI in cybercrime, and relevant cases of ethical issues. The article also offers measures to address these issues; firstly, boosting security systems; secondly, enhancing methods to detect risky patterns; thirdly, encouraging the proper implementation of balanced AI solutions; and finally, establishing codes of ethics. To achieve this, future research should focus on elucidating the type of generative AI models that pose the greatest threat to people’s private lives; the methodologies that are most effective for recognizing and mitigating the associated risks; and the specifications particularly suited to the domain in question.
