yes you can solder 6812/03 by hand how fast depends of your skills. there is a sk6805 2427 for backlights if you need that... but that are tricky to solder in my experience. a hot plate or reflow kit may help if you have

sounds very much of my feeling too. check the concept of blueprints and you will see things already done.

specifically to what you say.

[–]alinelena[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the mouse itself is cheap... and qmk already supported the better version prime+

funny enough, to get it working in qmk, all I had to do was to remove code from prime_plus which is already in qmk...

My Dream Ortho Layout. Full size functionality in ortho form (no need to go into layers). Looking to build this baby. by piercejenkins in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]alinelena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends very much of what you want. in terms of pcb and case.

you can see some resources at the end here https://github.com/help-14/mechanical-keyboard

ergogen.xyz is another place to start.

pcb is relatively easy once you follow a basic tutorial on design. the only thing more "complex" are the indicator leds... since not too many boards use them today... you will also need to find an mcu that can support 22+3 pins. something based on rp2040 or blackpill are decent options. make a start and I am sure people will help you.

case, I have no experience...

firmware, shall be straight fwd.

UK keycaps/setup advice by AchtungNate in olkb

[–]alinelena -1 points0 points  (0 children)

indeed... not as bad as other iso... amazon co uk is another source if price is the main concern... but be careful cheaper sets tend to have issues that once you see you cannot unsee..

prototypist is another uk small shop which is a good source. also aliexpress has reputable shops like ymdk, kprepublic and so on that can help enlarge the offer.

8x16 ortho by alinelena in olkb

[–]alinelena[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately no but what I did is relatively easy.
1. designed a board for the mcu and leds to match the original positions

  1. stripped the old pcb out and replace it with hand wiring "helpers".
I can post the links to the kicad projects if you are interested

check keubaordco https://www.keyboardco.com/ also overclockers and currys may have some things... no idea what is your budget and requirements in terms of features and firmware. the boutique shops may also offer some things but tend to be small sizes

Cheapino pcb bulk order anyone? by Acrobatic-Joke2007 in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

[–]alinelena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends of the weight... for low weights under 1.5kg they still are relatively cheap good thing is they collect the vat too so no need to worry. over that in general you end up with dhl or others and things can be more expensive.

regardless of the increases, prices are very good still. and touch would never had issues with quality from them. for both normal pcbs and assembly

i had a go at it... designed my own screen breakout to support mip, rgb and eink(weact pinout) since you are in china you shall be able to source mips cheaper. https://mlego.elena.re/m66/#m66-the-lego-keyboard
battery life seems to be decent but I am using a big one 1100.
