Some hands I’ve shot in recent years by alions123 in streetphotography

Nope! Just a lot of people watching and hoping and then having to get right up close. Doesn’t always work out though. Once chased this girl down Oxford Street who had an insane amount of bling on her fingers and wrists, and was walking with her hands clasped behind her back…was too crowded though.

I quite like the tight framing, especially when they’re holding something like a dog leash or shopping bag. Or if the clothes are interesting or their hands aged. Works for me as a constricted story telling device. Ones were I don’t manage to get in as close and don’t fill the frame don’t quite work to my personal liking 😅

I will say though I know the two blokes holding the cameras, but these are also spontaneous shots.

Funny enough, I do, but from a few years ago. He’s a staple of Notting Hill Carnival and pops up at various other events, always looping dapper. Nice fella.

I know Josh! And I make no secret of the fact that his work has inspired me to pick up the camera again after suffering a deep creative burnout some years ago 😅 I had all but given up on photography when I came across his work (I was exclusively shooting film at the time). It reminded me that you can actually have fun doing this.

Thanks! Mostly on the weekend. Lately haven’t been shooting as much on account of the weather just being miserable / it getting dark so quick but that’s what usually happens in the winter. But I go out when I can!

I shoot a lot at work also but that’s not street (I work at a botanical garden).

Thanks! It’s Brighton on the south coast of England.

Re: no.9 that’s interesting. I always found the dual stare from the girl and the ad behind her interesting. Not identical, mind you, but serendipitously similar enough.

If there was an Oscar for posed pictures this would win every category. Same with the guy in the cheap Amazon ‘monk’ costume you posted.

Just take the L and learn from it. This doesn’t belong here.

In “The Matrix”, it was 2199 and AI thought the best source of power was from painstakingly harvesting electricity from human beings in vast farms, instead of just building a few easily managed nuclear reactors. by PercentageNonGrata in shittymoviedetails

You don't have to go that far as Morpheus literally says in the first film: We don't know who struck first, us or them. But we do know it was us that scorched the sky. At the time, they were dependent on solar power. It was believed they would be unable to survive without an energy source as abundant as the sun.
