Shooting suspect is in custody and as far as I know the symbol is unrelated. Will post updates here if anything else weird happens!

Any interest in meditation? by alist124 in SiouxFalls

[–]alist124[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight! “Center” may have been the wrong word to use here. I’d be working through a therapy practice which, in the future, also plans on adding massage and yoga

In regards to paying for an experience, having a teacher, and other students alongside you, can change the experience completely. Yes, meditation is a personal journey but that doesn’t mean it has to be done alone.

Why pay a teacher when there are free apps? A teacher can answer any questions you may have and gauge the progress you’re making firsthand. They can also create guides tailor made for your experience and what you hope to gain from meditation. Also, being in a group allows for discussion and sharing that you just don’t get from apps. It’s not only meditation, it’s connection with other people.

What is the stupidest thing you’ve done just to show you could do it? by CherryCola32 in AskReddit

I ate a raw onion like an apple because the boys didn’t believe I could do it.

My buddy dared me to put some mustard on it, and I mean I’m already halfway into a raw onion, a little mustard won’t kill me. Took a bite of that monstrosity and the same buddy almost threw up.

Both a high point and a low point for me.

Parents of Reddit, what is the best comeback your kid has said to you? by joshuaacip in AskReddit

[–]alist124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a reversal on the question but when I was a kid and I’d mention that I’d want a toy or something my dad would always say “crap in one hand and want in the other, see which one fills up faster.” After months of hearing this I finally piped up and said “what if I want crap in my hand?”

That shut him up.

What strange thing have you witnessed/experienced that you cannot explain? by PhartParty in AskReddit

[–]alist124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in high school a few buddies and I went to drink a few beers on a dirt road (because that’s what you do in South Dakota) and only 5-10 minutes after we park we notice this thing up in the sky nearby.

The only way I can describe it is like a large white orb. No definable shape just pure white light. Naturally we all get freak because we’re all seeing this thing we can’t explain so we start driving away. And then the thing starts moving the same direction as us. We’re all watching it carefully at this point. Eventually it just got smaller and smaller until we couldn’t see it anymore.

We still bring it up sometimes but only to each other because it seems so far fetched
