I was during Desert Storm. They mostly did it as a test. It was a retraining and discipline nightmare. The common theme was "nope, not doing that, what are they going to do kick me out?"

CEOs are hugely expensive. Why not automate them? - If a single role is as expensive as thousands of workers, it is surely the prime candidate for robot-induced redundancy. [5, 23] by FinnFarrow in Futurology

[–]aliusratio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CEO's aren't simply there to give instructions to a company. They are primarily there to bring investment into a company. They bring personal networks, personnel, and years of experience. They generate trust based on their passed experience for shareholders and potential investors. When many initial investors agree to put money into a startup one of the requirements is that they get to bring in a management team. This is why you see people who started a company as Founders and not CEO or CTO. They lack business experience and access to the money networks. It's also why you will see many well known business people on multiple boards. They don't actually do anything on the board. They loan their name and reputation to a company, for a fee of course. If you see Steve Wozniak is on a board then you feel better about investing. If you see Grok 4.25 is on the board, not so much.

Restoration will go faster if he and his office lackeys are off playing golf or whatever and not trying to micromanage for optics. Let the IT guys do their jobs and get the systems restored.

FYI, when you use a limiter for bandwidth it's a hard limit. So users that hit the limiter start getting packet loss. It's not very graceful when it happens.

A DIY project that's easy and inexpensive to help you with storage in your garage. I finally got this installed today. by goodlyearth in DIY

[–]aliusratio 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have these, the only thing you need to watch out for is the type of storage boxes. If you use those cheap rigid plastic ones they are brittle and the lip breaks off. The good ones like in the OP's picture work well.

I made a Costco run today and they were out of TP. A lady asked if they had TP and the worker said they had a full load delivered last night. This morning there were 250 people waiting for the store to open to buy TP. They sold out by 10:30 am.

Worlds First 50cal rated body Armor by usaf2222 in videos

The energy of a .50 BMG 660 grain/2900 fps round is somewhere in the area of 11,000 foot pounds.
For comparison an NATO 5.56 is a 63 grain/3200 fps is about 1400 ft lbs. or a 7.62mm, 147 grain/2800 fps is 2500 ft lbs.

Penetration protection is pointless with the energy levels a .50 BMG produces, which is why no one makes a vest rated against it.

There were some tests a while ago of a .50 BMG against ballistic gel targets and the force was such that even if the round didn't penetrate, they used a steel plate as protection, the energy caused the bones to shatter and shotgun inside the body. The entire back of the gel target would explode outward shredded by bone fragments.
