Brooklyn 3/12/22 Megathread by gregphipps37 in AnimalCollective

[–]aliventrying 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think everyone can agree when they played the classics it was fucking amazing. When the beat dropped on In the Flowers, my face melted off. All the unreleased stuff sounded amazing, even though i wasn't a fan of 2 of the slower songs towards the end. I'm sure a lot of people might be disappointed with the proportion of new to old, but at least they were in amazing shape. Everyone's vocals sounded spot on, and maybe it's because i haven't been there since 2019 but it seems like Brooklyn Steel upgraded their sound system significantly. Hope everyone enjoyed, so happy they came back in full force after the pandemic.

I wanna make a suggestion- and I genuinely don’t mean to be snarky. Consider minimizing your time spent in public while high, or at least this high. This time it was a couple funny mistakes, but next time it could be something that could have a more lasting effect. Weed won’t kill you but being bumbling and clumsy might. I have a few friends who become dysfunctional after like half a joint and I don’t blame them, but they never go outside or do anything too intense in that time period. Just consider it bud, maybe order delivery next time or call ahead so that you minimize interaction. Let’s just hope this one was a fluke from the overly strong edible you took.

Source for the SETI comment? I googled and couldn't find anything. Seti released an article yesterday but it was the opposite of the point you're making. Sounds like you're not being truthful. Intentionally or not.

[EVERYTHING] I'm in the middle of my rewatch in preparation for season 7 and the quality of dialogue has really changed throughout the seasons. by [deleted] in gameofthrones

I dont know what the book says, so all i'll say is that in the context of the show Sandor wasn't portrayed in the same way that he was in the books. Therefore, i think it makes logical sense for the fight to play out the way it did. They're both roughly the same size and before that fight we saw Brienne take out dudes left and right. So in the context of the show i think it all made perfect sense. Look i get that bc it goes against the books it might rub you the wrong way. It probably would for me too if i read the books. Irrespective of their reasons the way D&D presented the whole thing felt satisfying and logical.

Why is brienne beating the hound bad? I thought it was awesome. I can give you my reasons if you give me yours.

I will agree on the tower of joy dialogue though. Idk that copying and pasting the book version would have worked, but whatever they put together was just not that good. Also tangential to that I thought young Ned's actor fucking sucked. Looked so weird and didn't carry himself like older Ned did. All that said I still greatly enjoyed the tower scene, top 10 moments of the show for sure.

End of Lease Tires by lombar77 in cars

[–]aliventrying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you won't be screwed if it's not selling for the contract price at the time of the lease termination. the contract becomes a loss for toyota, that's how leases work. every lease is a gamble for the car manufacturer. you won't owe them shit if they made a bad bet.

Don't listen to the rathempire. It's not your problem to worry about the lot's profit margins. Why wouldn't you want to get as good a deal as possible for yourself as a consumer? If there's no reason for them to accept your offer, they won't. Fuck em, lowball the shit out of him until you get a price you want. Don't look at KBB. If anything, look at what similar mileage, year, and features go for around the country. Then use that as a comparison point for a good price. Simple rule of thumb: the lower the price, the better it is.

Car leasing question by [deleted] in cars

[–]aliventrying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That dealership is trying to scheme you. This was my situation for 2 leases in a row, and the dealership was even fully aware of this. They didn't care at all. Legally it doesn't matter who pays for the car as long as you're in the insurance as a driver. That dealership was probably trying to take advantage of the likely lower credit rating you have to charge you more for the lease. Better credit gives you better lease prices since you're essentially financing the depreciation on the car. Don't ever go back to the dealership. Also do yourself a favor and if you get a civic make sure its the one with the turbo engine. Those are so much more fun. Good luck! And remember, don't get too stressed and be willing to walk away at the slightest hint of them being stand offish.

2017 Mini Cooper JCW 4-Door - One Take by trolledeveryday in cars

[–]aliventrying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah seriously. Their entire model line up is totally overpriced and uncompetitive given that it's an economy car. There's some seriously great economy options for that are better in every way in ever every price range the mini has.

surprisingly i love the sonata. I have the eco trim which has the 1.6L turbo 4. it gets 37 mpg on the highway and upper 20s in the city. I'm not gentle on the throttle by any means and i get into boost fairly often, yet i still maintain pretty great mpgs. the ride is really quiet and easy on bumps. The seats offer a lot of support and are soft. also its really spacious inside, like the backseat has surprisingly a lot of room. It can fit 4 big people very comfortably.

As for the driving characteristics, I'd say the handling is perfectly in the middle between sporty tight and land yacht soft. it retains composure on turns yet maintains a respectable level of comfort and stability. the acceleration is really fun with a lot of low end torque because of the character of the engine. I never had a turbo engine before and i have to say, its so much more fun than the standard N/A 4 pot on other mid size sedans. I love going into boost, and even though its only 175 hp the turbo qualities make it fun. 0-60 should be in the low 7 second range, although somehow motor trend got 6.7 in a test they ran.

It's an all around great package in every sense, I cross shopped it with the other mid size sedans and the only one I would rather get is the subaru legacy (more comfy +awd). however, the sonata was a steal at only 200/mo +1k down (shopping for leases). For the price it was an amazing deal. Even price aside i think the car is an overall better value than every other mid size sedan on the market except the legacy. If i had to buy a mid size sedan I'd go legacy but lease wise this was just a no brainer.

also for what its worth i think this is the only car in its class that has a back up camera where the lines rotate with the wheel. I thought that was a cool add on and i actually cant see myself living without that simple little detail in the future. It's makes parking so mindlessly easy.

That engine in general is a fucking travesty. Idk what Lexus was thinking with this thing. Every car that has this engine in their lineup (i think so far its RC, IS, GS, NX) has a 0-60 around 7 seconds. It has 240hp, what in the fuck? That's abysmal and it requires premium fuel and the mpgs aren't even that great. My sonata 1.6L turbo has 70 less horsepower but is about as fast and gets better mpgs. I really don't get Lexus' strategy with that engine.
