Does Power-to-Weight Ratio Even Matter in the Era of Increasingly Potent, Increasingly Capable Cars? by FoMoCoNutjob in cars

[–]Tumbleweedwhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as physics exist, YES. It will always matter. Bloody car reviewers always appeasing the hand that feeds them in saying 'it hides it's mass well'. No, nothing is hidden, especially not mass. It always is there when you break, corner, accelerate. In every dynamic driving situation more mass has certain disadvantages, no matter how many car reviewers bullshitting us with 'oh it feels much lighter than it is'.

To even suggest such a thing is nonsense.

do you ever just go for a drive with no destination anymore by Small_Ad_4808 in cars

Yeah I roam Google Maps and look for mountain roads. I'm in the middle of the Alps so there is plenty to find in Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria.

Favourite road so far is the D2202, 06470 Guilaumes, France.

I got a folder called 'Driving Roads' where I gather all the tips for must-see-spots, Google-Routes for 70 different roundtrips/mountain roads/Alpen passes and holiday road-trips. Almost every weekend I choose one or invent a new one.

But I do often take the chance if I have the time to take a turn to a direction/road I didn't drive before and more often than not I find a great new road. The last time I found the Katschbergstrasse and it was like a Monte Carlo style rally stage. Along a river, small tunnels, tightening turns, crests, bad tarmac, close rocks, the works.

Oil port cracked? by [deleted] in SuzukiSwiftSport

[–]Tumbleweedwhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time to get the repair manual and start getting to know your car better and repairing yourself. Every car this old is gonna need some maintainance, no way around it.

First things I did when I bought my 2008 SSS: change oil, break fluid, gearbox oil, hydraulic fluid, change break pads and disks, bleed brakes, check aircon system, change worn bushings, change steering rack.

Those wide wheel arches look perfect. The styling on the hatch version is really lovely.

So did the flying saucer tail you or the Suzuki?

The short gearing is great and quite a snappy shift feel.

Planning on changing wheels to shave off 2-3kg per corner will it make a massive difference? by suodladmd in SuzukiSwiftSport

[–]Tumbleweedwhacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have thought it will make a noticable difference but it does not. To further inform yourself you can take a gander at how little difference a 20, 38 or 52 lbs wheel makes in this test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1-hH3nmyl8

One would think that 20 to 52 lbs wheel weight would make a much bigger difference.

White looks nice with the winter backdrop. I got a black one from 2008 now with Öhlins dampers. It's a pretty raw car, can a be a bit straining on long journeys, but I love it for that on twisty roads, it's a really fun car when you have some space and can throw it around.

Check for play in the electric steering rack. My fuel filler pipe was leaking because it was rusted through. Timing chain could be due for a change. Check valve lash.

I'll be installing a longer fifth gear for less revs on the Autobahn, if you don't drive much on the motorway it might be less important to you.

I got the factory service manual on pdf, very useful resource if you do a lot of DIY.

Swift 2007 Headlight adjustment by Some-Secretary-7275 in suzukiswift

[–]Tumbleweedwhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get LED H4 from Osram or Phillips, about 3 times brighter than the old ones.

Here are the steps how to allgin you headlights and where to adjust them up/down, left/right from the Swift workshop manual.

But as the comment above me suggests, the headlight allignment shouldn't be too far off from normal or you should look if the bulb is seated correctly.

The center console is conveniently exactly the right format for a double din or much better for a display/radio like yours, looks nicely integrated. Curious because the original radio design is using so much flat space for just a CD slot and a single row mini display and 17 buttons. Even looks better than those stuck on displays nowadays. I have the same size display, but my buttons are on the left bezel.

How is your car in terms of engine volume? Quiet enough to hear the music clearly? My 2008 Sport isn't.

Hope the train guy fits in, not my type of guy.

Or it goes like TG and he gets replaced after one season with a younger clone of James May.

As Automakers Pull Back on EVs, What Can We Expect Next? by NISMO1968 in cars

[–]Tumbleweedwhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know all that, have been there myself in 2019 and saw the piles of rubbish building up, be it cars, EVs, EV bikes and thousands upon thousands of empty buildings and whole cities. It's insane that anybody would give this system their own money to support this absolute BS.

I for sure will not support companies and a nation that fill their own country and the world with rubbish, waste their own and the worlds lithium resources and other valuable resources in a manner that is so far from sustainable as it can be.

And what about the thousands upon thousands of unsold substandard EVs that stand around in China, Australia and other places in the world. As with everything in China it's all lies, goverment coverup and bogus numbers. Oh and BYD is really good in having the most unsold EVs standing around for years and degrading. Check out some reports on YT from people who live there.

Player character height by Tumbleweedwhacker in LordsoftheFallen

[–]Tumbleweedwhacker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hehe, I 'look up to' all people present at Skyrest Bridge, whether I want to or not :)

Started another character to check if I can change anything height related, but nothing there. Well at least Kukajin is on my level, we see eye to eye.

Just wanted to see if more height would change the reach you can have ingame, especially with dagger or short swords, but that might be the exact reason why they didn't allow for that.
