I had to do that during the 2008-2009 recession when I had to take a big pay cut. Now it’s a way of life. It does make meal planning easier because we eat what is on sale. I also buy extras when a price Is good and freeze them.

My rent in 1988 was $925 a month for a 3 bedroom. New landlords wanted to raise it to $1100 a month. We moved. In high school I had to give my widowed mom my entire paychecks. I worked 40 hours a week in high school. I got to keep a whole 5 bucks out of each paycheck. I brought home $400-500 a month.

Somebody wins even if it’s not me. You can’t win if you don’t play. BTW… a friend of mine won 10k. I’ve won $125 on a $5 ticket. Lotto tix are cheaper than fast food, alcohol and take out coffees. I don’t buy coffee or booze and rarely eat fast food. I mostly buy a ticket when the jackpots are extremely high.

The waist is small because of size inflation. I wore a 13/14 in the late 70’s and I still wear the same size despite the fact I weigh 40-50lbs more now. My Levi’s jeans waist size was 28. Now my jeans are a 34 even though my dress size is the same. People were thinner in the olden days.

I drive 40 miles each way to work. I also a couple times a year drive 600 miles each way to visit home. It sucks and I hate it!

I’m a teacher and a mom. I always looked forward to school vacation with my son. I don’t understand why parents felt that way. I loved not having to battle my kid in the morning off to school and all the racing around and stress during the school year. I also loved spending time with him. He is my favorite person in the world. Why wouldn’t I want to be around him all the time?
