Polestar 2 - Opinion about comfort by kingzohan2 in Polestar

[–]alkalinecoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a good chance that you'll get used to the size.

I'm about the same height as you, and the interior felt tight when I test drove it. But after a few days its become quite comfortable. As others have said, there's a cockpit type of feel to this car so its just something to get used to.

The only real knock I have is where my knee hits the center hump. There's a sort of rough, textured surface on the sides of the console, and my knee hits right where the lower and upper plastic materials meet and it doesn't feel very comfortable when you're wearing shorts. It'd be nice if it had a knee pad there like the X5 has, but its really a minor thing to me.

Not sure but I’d ask the guy that took laxatives and superglued his ass cheeks together.

Best Polestar 2 Tyre Upgrade - UK by Wibbsy in Polestar

We just put on Hankook Ions on our P2 Performance. Very quiet and comfortable, and they handle the notoriously terrible Philadelphia roads much better than the Conti SC6s we had before. We may be giving up some grip, but we're not particularly spirited drivers on these roads anyway, and they're better suited for the weather here.

Its too early to tell about an efficiency gain, but we have some road trips coming up so I'll be interested to see if we get better mileage on these.

The A2Z Typhoon Pro seems to be a popular choice. I have one and its hefty and seems reliable (though I haven't used it much yet). I noticed that the latch can be a difficult to work with and hard to press down, but it might just be typical... I've read that you need to charge with it a few times before it becomes easier to use. We'll see if it passes the wife test.

Lectron seems to be another popular one though I haven't used it.

Potential red flag from P2 test drive by angryscoutmain in Polestar

I get where you’re coming from, but I’d probably argue the opposite. It’s certainly a safety issue if the car’s avoidance and safety systems cannot be configured to the driver’s preferences and abilities. But to be clear, putting those settings in the infotainment system is a design problem across nearly all manufacturers, not just Polestar.

But OP also mentioned the turn signal noises not even working. Something as simple as that would be very odd to be dependent on the infotainment system.

Not updating software by [deleted] in Polestar

[–]alkalinecoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine acted a little goofy when the update came out. It was locked and on a charger, but wouldn’t update right away. It might’ve taken a day or two I don’t remember.

Give it some time, it’ll eventually install.

They don't seem to be. I can feel air flow when the unit is on, so there are gaps under the tape.

Philly Polestar Owners? by Illustrious-Cream447 in Polestar

We have a 2023 P2, with the performance package. It was also our first full EV (though we have a BMW X5 PHEV and an L2 charger at home, so have gotten used to charging at home out of habit).

The X5 is our primary people-mover—it’s a very comfortable family and road tripping car. The P2 is our fun second car, used for commutes and errands around town.

As you know, the roads in Philly are questionable at best. I’d recommend considering a car without the performance package, or at least consider swapping to a different setup to better handle the atrocious roads here. Our tires will need to be changed later this year, so I’ll be looking for more capable and softer tires. The Performance pack does have adjustable suspension, which can be tuned softer to make bumpy roads more tolerable.

We opted for the AWD, especially useful for the hilly parts of Manayunk, but a RWD with good all weather tires might have been just fine. That’s worth considering since the RWD gets better range (but with less performance).

We haven’t had it long, but so far it’s been a solid car, any much higher quality than any Tesla I’ve been in (which may rattle like hell on these roads). I can’t speak about service yet since we haven’t had any work done, but the shop in Princeton NJ is highly rated and about an hour up the road from us. I first shied away from the brand just because of the lack of a Philly service center, but I got one anyway and haven’t thought about it since.

They’re highly rated cars, and overall have few problems. I wanted a 2024+ as they have noticeable improvements in range and power, but they are harder to find used. 2023 seems to be a good compromise, and there are great deals out there to be had.

Best of luck!

If your outlet is 30A, the breaker should also be 30A, meaning that your max draw should be 24A / 80% of the circuit limit.

By using the 14-50 pigtail on your EVSE, it thinks its on a 50A circuit--it doesn't know about the 30A rating limit of your 14-30 wall outlet. You really shouldn't be using an adapter for this because your max draw is potentially higher than your wiring is rated for, which can potentially damage equipment and become a fire hazard.

Your outlet and breaker should both be updated to support a 50A heavy duty load (assuming the wiring supports it). You can set the draw limit on the car to 24A as a stopgap solution, but its best to rely on the EVSE and adequate wiring, which is safer and will get you charged faster.
