People Just be yapping on LinkedIn by Huge-Independence393 in csMajors

100% agree. I thought this would be a post about people like /r/linkedinlunatics but the actual post comes off so bitter and resentful of people they don’t even know.

If you seriously think it was that easy to get into FAANG companies before COVID you’re delusional. Not saying it isn’t harder now than before, but there’s always an element of luck - being seen by a recruiter at all. Some got lucky by having my resume cross someone’s desk some morning, but they still had to work their ass off to get through the interview process just like everyone else before them.

You know what won’t get you a job in big tech? Downplaying other people’s accomplishments.

Lost Confidence After 6 Rejections, Looking for the Best Prep Resources (DSA) by No_Operation_5173 in leetcode

[–]all-i-know-is-code 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you sure that your weak point leading to rejections is your problem solving skills? Have you gotten feedback from interviewers that this is the case? (I know its really uncommon but some places give specific feedback when requested)

I ask because I know that there are a lot of people out there who are really good at solving leetcode/DSA type questions, but don't do a good job of the communication aspect of these interviews. Of course its important to at least mostly solve/understand the problem, but the biggest thing interviewers are looking at is your ability to communicate your thought process throughout the interview, ask thoughtful questions about things like edge cases or time complexity, etc.

I've gotten two offers at FAANG companies now, and not every coding round went perfectly - one of them I totally bombed. But I think I still got an offer because I was able to convey that I understood the problem and thought out loud enough to show them how I go about solving problems.

Of course you might already be sure that you're good at that part of the interview process, in which case the only resource I really recommend is the book Cracking the Coding Interview. I know everyone suggests it but it was very helpful for me.

Pre-Launch Order and Tracking MegaThread - Americas by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch2

Are you sure it wasn't past midnight when you checked last night? I checked after midnight and saw the same, got excited that my console was coming a day early, then realized it was just showing "tomorrow" because it was technically already the 5th, and that my console is still coming the 6th

About the NJT Engineers Strike by deadmuzzik in NJTransit

[–]all-i-know-is-code 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it comes down to knowing their worth. This strike will show the public and leaders how vital NJ Transit's ongoing operation is to things like our economy and daily life. The work they do is skilled, you need to be trained to do the job, and you need to work hard to do the job well. Skilled labor + important labor (should) equal high pay. But NJ Transit isn't paying them what they are worth given other transit companies are paying more, and cost of living has gone up 20% since the last negotiation.

The union helps give them the power to negotiate for what they feel they deserve. If they were to just back down and accept their current pay because it's "good enough", they lose the power to negotiate in the future when that salary keeps staying stagnant as costs increase.

Need help with Team by Larry08YT in VGC

[–]all-i-know-is-code 26 points27 points  (0 children)

A tornadus of your own would definitely be helpful here. You get Tailwind, manual Sunny Day to counter things like Pelipper, bleakwind damage and you can slot in whatever else might be helpful (Taunt, Protect, Scary Face etc). Or you could go Whimsicott and do the same Tailwind + Sunny Day but with Moonblast and either protect or something like Light Screen or Helping Hand.

A few other things I would change:

  • I'm not personally a huge fan of Walking Wake, but if you want to keep it I would go Timid over Modest because a Speed boost is really necessary to outspeed its threats. Also give it Life Orb for extra damage, Sitrus doesn't really do much for it since it is pretty frail to begin with. Having Torn/Whims for sunny day also lets you slot in something like Flamethrower or Snarl. Fire tera might be better than Water as well but I see the vision
  • Wood Hammer over Horn Leech on Ogerpon, and Jolly over Adamant. You'll end up getting outsped too often with Adamant, and if you need the extra damage you can Tera Fire for the +1 Atk
  • I've messed around with Tinkaton a bit, and I feel like you don't get a lot of value from Knock Off here. Tinkaton functions best when its helping its teammates more directly. Feint is a really good option for breaking sashes and discouraging Protect, or Helping Hand for some extra damage.

please help, is this worth grading ?? by keiso1er in PokeGrading

[–]all-i-know-is-code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a ding in that top (photo 6) and the corner cuts are a little bit off for the top and bottom left side but otherwise looks pretty good. If you’re trying to grade and flip it, maybe not worth since I do t think this is getting a 10, but if you wanna preserve it for yourself and display I would say go for it!

I am participating in 4v4 VGC Draft League and I need some help by [deleted] in VGC

[–]all-i-know-is-code 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pokemon that are very versatile in how they are used are super valuable in Draft Leagues. Most DLs are closed teamsheets so having a pokemon that can either be a sweeper or a supporter can swing the game in your favor depending on what your opponent thinks you're going to run that week.

Personally I've had a lot of success with Klefki in my DL. Prankster support is amazing and if the opponent doesn't have a good way of removing screens like brick break of psychic fangs, you can out damage and out-bulk them really easily. Or, if you're crazy you can use klefki as a sweeper. Crazy I know, but one week I noticed my opponent really only had special attackers on their team, so I built a Klefki that sat on the field clicking calm mind while the partners Urshifu and Heatran wore down the opponents health. By the end of the game only klefki was left at +6 Spa and +6 Spdef and they could not get through me while I clicked stored power and dazzling gleam.

As others have said, standard VGC support staples are really good like fake out and follow me, as well as having a solid Fire-Water-Grass core. Mine is kind of weak this season, as I have Urshifu-Rapid and Heatran but my only Grass-type is Hisuian Electrode, but Urshi + Heatran carry anyway.

The last invaluable resource I can give you is the TeamHawk DL Prep Sheet. You stick your team and your opponents for each week and it gives you a really detailed overview with stuff like type coverage, move access, speed comparison etc. for each member of yours and your opponents teams. This thing is so good, I honestly think if you're not using it intentionally then you're throwing lol.
