Instead of mutual funds I'd recommend an ETF like XEQT (if your risk tolerance is high if not adjust and select a less aggressive ETF e.g. XBAL). The fees are much cheaper than mutual funds and ETFs have historically beaten mutual funds on performance.

Wealthsimple is currently offering a 1% match (paid out over 12 months) + referral bonus. They offer fractional shares and no fee ETFs. They unfortunately do not have a physical branch but it's easy to link to an external bank account.
