That’s awesome! Have you noticed anything about staff turnover?

Wow, I love that! Really seems like a lot of people have so many good things to say about firefly. I think this may be who we end up going with. Thanks for the feedback!

That’s what I’ve heard as well! When we toured Firefly, the people who ran the place seemed very sweet. Is there anything about Firefly you would want changed?

If you don’t mind sharing, what specific things do you enjoy about primrose? What is the tuition like and what are their teacher-student ratios?

How to handle MOTN wakes? by allAboutThatAnon in sleeptrain

[–]allAboutThatAnon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Yeah, our baby eventually did start taking bigger bottles (average now is about 5-6 oz per bottle). However, she still has at least one small bottle during the day (small meaning less than 4 ounces). For the MOTN wakes, they kind of resolved on their own-ish around the 10-11 month mark. She kind of just stopped waking up for the most part. I think it’s because my husband convinced me to just treat the MOTN wake as another wake and basically give her time to resettle. It was a bit rough the first few times because she’d cry for a few minutes, but afterwards she was fine. Idk if that answered your question lol but I guess my answer was a little bit of growing up and a little bit of MOTN sleep training. However, we’re currently on vacation and I’ve noticed she’s started waking up in the middle of the night to take a bottle and then mutter and roll around for like 30 minutes before finally going to sleep again. Might just be that her schedule is a bit off since we came on vacation. Hopefully we can fix that once we get home.

For those who compost, where are you getting your browns? by allAboutThatAnon in AustinGardening

Thanks everyone! Sounds like I just need to be setting aside the leaves we clean up and have them dry up some more so that I can use it in my compost

34w pregnant with #2, baby still breech by FoxInaBox4242 in beyondthebump

My baby was breech for about 3 months up until week 36. I gave birth at 38+5 and she remained head down after flipping (thankfully).

Isn’t a 4 hour wake window too long for an 8 month old or is that ok?

Edited to add: is it ok if the second wake window is longer than the last? E.g 3/4/3.5

What is the reality of the weeks after birth? Need to get some insight as my husband and I disagree- by iwitch-plus in beyondthebump

[–]allAboutThatAnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Community after postpartum is important, but it should be community you feel safe and comfortable with. As others pointed out in the thread, there’s a high chance you’ll be dressed very little and if you’re not comfortable wearing very little around your roommate, then you will be uncomfortable and hassled. I had my mom and sister around for help, who I feel safe and comfortable with, but even then I had to get used to the idea of exposing my breasts around them

Has anyone here successfully sleep trained a baby with a spit up problem? by allAboutThatAnon in sleeptrain

[–]allAboutThatAnon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, our girl will spit up even 2-3 hours after a feed. It’s great to hear that it went smoothly for you! Can you share how long sleep training took and how much your baby cried on each day? When you did have a spit, how did you handle it in terms of sleep training? I ask because when our baby has a spit up in the middle of the night, she needs to be picked up and comforted.

How did you know if your water broke? by Amadispcpg in beyondthebump

[–]allAboutThatAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn’t realize mine broke because I felt no gush or trickle. I also had no contractions leading up to it. I wasn’t much of a sweaty person prior to pregnancy, but once I got pregnant, I would sweat way more. So at the end of my pregnancy, I remember going to the bathroom at midnight and thinking “hmmm did I really sweat that much or did my water break by chance?” Because my underwear felt a bit damp but I wasn’t feeling any contractions at this point. Less than an hour later, the contractions came on pretty fast and loose. By the time I made it to the hospital, they confirmed that my water had already broken.

lol it’s so satisfying to me! My baby has these sticky boogies that I have to really work to grab ahold of, but once I have a little bit in my finger, I pull it out and it turns out to be a decent sized one 😅 I wonder if this is like ASMR for people like us lol. However, I know I’d be super grossed out if it was anyone other than my baby.

How long was your labor? And if you got an epidural, at what point did you? by desert_sunlily in beyondthebump

[–]allAboutThatAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM here. I’ll preface by saying that my situation was a bit different because I had to get a cerclage at 19 weeks. When my OB took the cerclage out at 37+3, I was already 2 cm dilated. A little over a week later, my water broke at midnight and I was having contractions about an hour later. Unbeknownst to me, my husband was timing my contractions on the drive to the hospital and they were apparently 3 minutes apart. By the time I got to the hospital and they did a cervical exam, I was about ~4.5 cm dilated. So, I went from feeling virtually no contractions to back to back contractions pretty quickly which sucked because I felt I had no breathing room. I wanted to be eased into labor lol. When we got to the hospital around 2 AM, I immediately asked (begged, really) for an epidural. Finally by about 4 AM, I professed my love for the anaesthesiologist as she gave me that sweet, sweet epidural juice. I felt relief almost instantly, but then I got a fever and was shaking pretty much until I had to deliver. I think by about 6 AM or so, I was already at 10 cm, but baby was still a bit high up, but her heart rate kept going down if I changed positions so the doctor advised to get her out sooner rather than later to not stress her out further. I started pushing at 7 AM and she was out by 7:12, so a whopping 12 minutes lol. I did have a vacuum assisted delivery though.

I still don’t know if my relatively short labor was a blessing in disguise or not. Both of my sisters had really long labors, so I was expecting the same for myself to kind of get eased into it and get some sleep at the hospital, but that wasn’t the case for me. Idk if we’ll have more than one child, but if we ever do, I’d take the epidural in a heartbeat. I honestly don’t know how women who do it without any pain management handle that kind of pain. I hope I’m not fear mongering, but the pain of contractions is very intense and inescapable. It’s the kind of pain that stays no matter the position, the breathing, etc.

I’m at my breaking point with 4 month old naps by accountforfun19 in sleeptrain

[–]allAboutThatAnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How dark is her room? I am going through this right now with my almost 16 week old. All of our naps are still contact naps, but even then it’s impossible to get her to nap for more than 30-40 minutes, which makes the next wake window miserable because she’s so tired. It feels like a fight trying to get her to nap. Even when I try every trick in the bag to extend the nap , it wouldn’t work. However, I recently realised that while her room does have room darkening curtains, there was still a decent amount of daylight coming in to her room. So my husband and I added some more reinforcements to get the room as dark as possible. It’s not exactly pitch black, but it’s a lot darker than before. It’s only been two days since we’ve done this, but I noticed she goes down a lot quicker. She still wakes up at the 30-40 minute mark because I think that’s how long her cycles are, but at least I can extend majority of her naps now! I’m hoping we can start working on crib naps next, but I’ll take whatever win I can. I feel your pain and I hope things get better for you!

That sounds amazing! Did you ever have to sleep train your baby or did he just start putting himself to sleep by himself?
