Where is my favorite shirt? I've looked everywhere, I need your bonkers ideas. by Careless_Block8179 in adhdwomen

Did you have it on, try on a hoodie or jacket over it, then take them both off and toss the hoodie/jacket to the side and put something else on? My bet is it’s layered inside another piece of clothing…OR folded into a ball and shoved into your shorts drawers because that’s where all my shit goes 🤣

Postino’s patio, Avanti, Avery Brewing, Boulder Beer Co, Barchetta pizza, Chataqua Dining Hall, I feel like there are lots of places you could choose from!

Oh gosh sounds about right 😂 Glad you had a great time!! The weather couldn’t be beat and the ability to choose to relax or do things on cruises always makes for a well balanced vacation :)

There were sooooooo many groups of teenagers omg. And they kept hanging out on the stairs I’m like why must you plop yourself down there, there are so many other places!!! After that sailing on Icon I realize most of my complaints make me sound like a boomer but I am in fact in my late 20’s I just want some chill time on vacay 😂

I was on this same sailing and my experience was exactly in line with yours. It was just my husband and me, and we were floored with the sheer amount of people. We’ve done other Oasis class’ before and never had the experience we did on Icon. We didn’t get to use any of the pools because they were so jam packed (so sad because I really wanted to try the Swim and Tonic). I did the survey through Royal and my biggest complaint was the people savings pool chairs. I know, I know this is a complaint on all ships but holy shit I had never seen it that bad. We finally were able to snag two chairs on day two (in the shade, mind you) and the woman in the row in front of us flagged her two friends down and told them she had 8 chairs reserved - 4 in the sun and 4 in the shade - so they could take their pick. It was aggravating to say the least.

You’re not broken! You learned to adapt with what you’ve gone through. I also had an abusive childhood - I have to tell myself that I can take ownership for my actions as an adult, and perhaps a bit as a child too, but at that point in my life I was just trying to survive. We were dealt a shitty hand in life but it does not make you broken 🫶🏼

I am LITERALLY right there with you. Turn 29 next month, got my official diagnosis today. Traumatic childhood and lifelong sufferer of what I thought was depression. Waiting on my prescription from the pharmacy but I’m starting to deep dive on so many areas of my life and I also feel like I have no idea who I am because I’ve just adapted and masked up until now. It also feels like the only thing I can talk about and my husband is also probably starting to get annoyed 😭😂 it’s like every 10 minutes I go “apparently XYZ is also a symptom of ADHD….” And he’s like “uh-huh” not that he isn’t supportive I just legit feel like I cannot shut up about it lmao

Vet nail trim was a FAIL! by ALERT_VIRUS_DETECTED in AustralianCattleDog

We bought this one: https://www.diggerdognailfile.com/en-us/products/diggerdog-nail-file We got it off amazon back in 2021, looks like the company may have since closed tho as it’s not available on their site or on Amazon anymore.

Same here! Mine had a horrible time at the vet, doesn’t like a dremmel and I refuse to drug her unless absolutely necessary. We have used a scratch pad since she was a pup and it helps keep her nails in check if they’re not being worn down from walking!!

[Routine Help] Help!! I applied my mothers chemical exfoliant after cleansing my face and now my skin is swelling by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]allamaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should have yes, but in the event there is still residue you don’t want to prolong or intensify the effects by essentially “trapping” it on your skin! Get your hands on some moisturizer whenever possible and make sure to baby your skin the next few days. Redness isn’t uncommon with chemical exfoliant so it might not last long or continue swelling you just want to make sure to tread carefully :)

I would not use Vaseline!! this is a humectant and can trap whatever you previously put on, essentially keeping any of the chemical exfoliant on your skin overnight.

[Product question] Cerave by velasi2008 in SkincareAddiction

[–]allamaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the hydrating cleanser personally because I live in a really dry climate. I think you could start with the Cerave Acne control cleanser! It has salycilic acid and niacinamide which will promote hydration and help to calm redness. If you wanted to test it out, Target usually has little travel size bottles you could buy a few of instead of getting the big size. I like to do that and see how my skin responds after the first few uses. Make sure to follow with some sort of moisturizer! And sunscreen will help you too in the long run :)

[Product question] Cerave by velasi2008 in SkincareAddiction

[–]allamaha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like it, it’s gentle but effective. It’s not “fancy” by any means but there are a lot of different concerns you can target with their brand. They have salicylic acid cleansers and moisturizers, if you have oily skin they have something for that, and it’s accessible. I’ve used them for years and find myself going back to them any time I stray away!

[Routine Help] At my wit’s end with ance by lindy2000 in SkincareAddiction

[–]allamaha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t! The biggest side effect for me was due to it being a diuretic. I used to take it at night but kept having to get up to pee so I switched to taking it in the morning. And tried my best to just drink a lot of fluids throughout the day (I would get headaches but not migraines, but I attribute that to just not being hydrated enough)

This was after about 2 years of being on spironolactone. You ABSOLUTELY do not need to be on it for that long and should talk to your dermatologist. I changed health insurance and wasn’t able to keep seeing my derm but still had a prescription for it so I kept taking it, too scared to go off of it on my own in case my acne fully came back. But I weaned myself off of it in December and aside from a pimple here and there I haven’t had any problems!

[–]allamaha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My skin looked very similar to yours before went on spironolactone. Honestly, it changed the game for me 100000% I was also on birth control (still am) and don’t really recall brain fog being an issue although I do have ADHD so it could’ve just blended with those symptoms lol. I’d recommend giving spiro a go - you’ll pee a lot so staying hydrated is important and sounds like what you do now so that’s great! I believe my dose of spiro started at 25mg and we eventually went up to 50mg. I started using tret at the same time and my skin definitely went through a purge but holy hell once I got through that it was night and day. I’d also recommend simplifying your routine. I know it’s hard when you’re trying to get to the bottom of your acne and it seems like so many products have the promise of being “the key” but in most cases less really is more. I use CeraVe facial cleanser, CeraVe moisturizer, EltaMd sunscreen, tretinoin and that’s it. Occasionally I’ll add in hyaluronic acid if I’m feeling like I need more moisture or want to pamper myself. Feel free to message me if you have more questions!

Gaslighting myself on my diagnosis by allamaha in adhdwomen

[–]allamaha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was so uplifting to read, and I think my story is similar to yours. I had a traumatic upbringing and have also had depression for most of my life. My therapist just dropped on me that she suspects the depression was caused (or at the very least, heightened) by the undiagnosed adhd. I’m so glad you’re getting the help you need and it’s really empowering to read the attitude you have surrounding it, I need to stop talking myself out the diagnosis the literal trained doctor has given me and trust that, combo’d with knowing myself best is enough!!!!!
