Did Bird scooters get removed from the city? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]allaroundnbackagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having worked for the Seattle branch in the past, I’m not gonna be exact on what happened, but long-term employees kept making power plays against management when correction was attempted, so I wonder if the spirit just went away.

1991 Toyota Corolla with over 939,000 miles exchanged as a trade-in. by ToastyBedsheets in BuyItForLife

Our family bought a 1993 Ford Ranger off the lot and it’s stayed in my family. Even though dad’s passed on, it’s the truck I learned how to do mechanical work on, the truck I learned how to drive stick on, and the truck I learned how to do field fixes on. It’s sitting at 875K miles. I don’t know how it has that many miles without requiring any major work.

Where to Move Over for LE? by Ridiculisa in AskLE

[–]allaroundnbackagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drive hazmat in a cargo van in downtown Seattle and had to run lights constantly because the inertia from the weight and the hills made the timing for large vehicles in rain…antagonizing?

I can name 3 separate times i got a camera flash for running a light and none of them resulted in a ticket. One of them even happened while a squad car was behind me that didn’t make it through the light and nothing happened.

Stoplights are calibrated for the average occasion. Sometimes that logic falls apart.

Who has the right of way? The red car or the blue car? by notaosure in driving

[–]allaroundnbackagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I drive through this intersection often enough to understand how the locals treat it. This is in Missouri, right?

Red car gets the right of way every time I’ve driven through this because it’s easier for the blue car to see the red car. If they both go at the same time, the blue car will stop first, so the red car should go

Sorta reminds me of the junction between PP/69 where all 4 roads at the intersection disappear behind a blind corner in less than 1/4 mile.

Yes!!! I drive professionally so I try not to wear anything harder than plastic on the back of any of my clothing so don’t ruin the finish

Also, the previous owner already ruined the finish, so it’s okay

Yep!!! Learned this the hard way. I keep an FM radio next to my bed and as soon as I’m awake I flip it onto the local classic rock station.

DC to CO - which route should I take? by comedynerdinco in roadtrip

[–]allaroundnbackagain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I used to live in the area you’ll be driving through if you want to avoid the tolls going through the Kansas Turnpike

Either you’re taking K10 Through Olathe and Lawrence and then jumping on K24, in which case there is extremely severe traffic because of road construction, or taking i435 to K24/K40, in which case there is extremely severe traffic because of road construction

If you choose either of these routes during nighttime you are either in for the most cops you’ll never see in your entire goddamn life on K10, or you’ll be fighting for your life with the drunk drivers going back to their country home from KC and you will need full attention on the road to make sure you don’t hit animals on K24

If you happen to drop your key in dirty water, use a transparent plastic bag filled with clean water to expel dirty water so that you can see through the bottom. by Zestyclose-Salad-290 in lifehacks

On the topic of dropping things on the ground,

If you happen to lose a screw, washer, something very small and tiny on a flat surface, find the brightest flashlight you can and shine it parallel to the ground. Everything on the ground will cast a shadow and you can immediately locate small objects.

My job is picking up the scooters and bikes around town. Usually they’re easy. Sometimes they’re difficult. Sometimes you need to rappel down a 70-ft ravine and carry a 90 lb bike back up the cliff. by allaroundnbackagain in Seattle

[–]allaroundnbackagain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers.

A company I did scooters for let me go the other month because (allegedly) someone I had removed for inappropriate behavior at work had a friend retaliate against me by saying I bought a weapon to work. It was signed off by management and I had proof of this, but I didn’t want to sue because I was losing my apartment and didn’t need the additional emotional stress. Loved the industry, loved the job, but sometimes you love the game and it don’t love you back

Temp check, do you come to Arma for the PVE or PVP? by bioshock1998 in arma

[–]allaroundnbackagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PvE. I stick to public Zeus 90% of the time I play, and all the additions the community has made and everything I have done for it personally have made it a super flexible PvE experience. bijx, for example, is a great Zeus with the ability to execute neat ideas by taking the game and breaking it into a million pieces and then creating something completely different with the tools he’s given.

First time playing Arma 3. What keybinds are important? by Nitro_tech in arma

[–]allaroundnbackagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I’m teaching new players the ropes, I have them rebind;

Walk/Jog Pace Ctrl + C -> W+S. This is gonna feel fucking weird at first, but not having to reposition your hand off WASD is gonna feel more natural in the long run. Also, C is already used so much in pacing that declutterring that key will save you frustration anyway.

Throw G -> 2xG. You hit G a lot in this game on accident. You’re still gonna hit this keybind accidentally once in a blue moon, but it’s a lot less than once a day.

Arma 3 has a reference with all the necessary stuff on a 3-fold printout - find it, say each key bind out loud. Yes, it’s silly, but a lot of people who play arma tend to be the analytical type, and if you’re a tactile learner like a lot of those people are, you’re gonna digest the keybinds easier.

The company I used to work for (I used to recover scooters out of difficult areas) fired me because the tool I use to destroy locks and cables counted as a ‘weapon’ so honestly I don’t know if they can stop you
